I have tried to download Monkey Mod several times today and each time my McAfee Antivirus does not allow Winzip to decompress the mmclient.exe file. The antivirus program is saying it is detecting a Trojan, Generic.dx, and automatically deletes the file. Any ideas on how to get Monkey Mod to install and work? Thanks for any ideas!

Are you getting the mod from a reputable site? Also are you sure its a false postive? If so you could probably just disable your virus scanner or make an exception for that file.

Hi,
Several anti virus programs now pickup the mmclient as a trojan. It isn't infected.
You need to go into McAfee and add the mmclient to it's exclusion list.
Btw, currently 3 of our servers don't require you to use the Monkey mod client so you can at least try those servers ( KP4Ever Detropolis, KP4Ever Kraze Bots and KP4Ever Extreme Mod).
Also TiCaL is working on a new version of the Monkey mod which will include support for the GoG and Steam versions of KP.

Thanks for the replies. I got the file from Poisonville.net, so I am assuming that the file is safe. I'll try and see if there is some info on how to get McAfee make an exception because there is no easy way through the program.

What happens if you turn McAfee off, install the Monkey Mod client, then turn it back on?
BTW, the person who updates the Monkey Mod, TiCaL, is currently updated the lcient to include support for the GoG version of KP. I have asked him to look into the problem with AV programs giving a false positive to the lcint which he is going to do.

I tried turning off the Anti Virus and was able to unzip mmclient. When I went to load up GameSpy, the anti virus blocked mmclient and removed it. I guess I'll have to use the non MOnkey Mod servers until mmclient is updated. Thanks for all your help!

You also have the option of changing anti virus, Avast is very nice and free. Bit on the extreme side for one game but I personally don't get along with mcafee, don't think it or norton are worth paying money for.

Or you could uninstall that crappy mcaffee antivirus, get another antivirus that isnt so prone to false positives and play on whatever server you want.
