Hotfix Patch 1.0.1 is now LIVE!
_____
Hello, Monarchs!

We are pleased to announce that Hotfix Patch 1.0.1 is now LIVE! Please be aware that we know there are still issues that have not been addressed in this patch. We wanted to fix as many critical issues as possible prior to the holiday season, when things will start moving a bit slower. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve your Kingdom experience. We would also like to thank everyone who has been submitting bug reports and sending in suggestions for what they would like to see in Kingdom Two Crowns.

Hotfix Patch Notes:

Fixes:

Fixed an issue where an infinite loading screen could occur if the connection failed when attempting to join a Steam friend
Fixed an issue involving the Stables and multiplayer games (aka Steed Save Corruption) - this will also patch affected save data, so you shouldn't need to restart your campaign
Added a fix for corrupted, almost empty save data, that was sometimes caused by having a connection attempt fail with very particular timing
Fixed an issue that caused pikemen to fish double money when in an online game
Fixed an issue that caused the bow and hammer shops to be unusable by the client, if they joined after the scythe shop had been placed
Fixed that hermits would wander outside of the kingdom, searching for a place to stand, to their eventual demise
Fixed that workers would also wander outside of the walls during greed attacks
Fixed an unlock requirement for the 'There is No Greater Ruler Than Thou' achievement
Fixed an issue where swapping steeds spawned by the Stables repeatedly in an online game could cause ridden steeds to move independently
Fixed an issue with having hermits as passengers when a remote client pays to embark on the boat

Balance:

Buffed the ninja, and reduced the hire cost
Reduced a few steeds' ride costs (Bear, Stamina Horse, Unicorn/Kirin, Lizard and Warhorse)

Features:

Added a way for players to manually dismount their hermit passengers (flip back and forth rapidly to expel unwanted hermits)
Updated the credits

We are still working hard on fixing critical issues like:

Knights not attacking portals if player arrived in an intact boat
Blacksmith/Catapult shop not appearing
Items rotating when purchased by clients
Difficulty to find co-op controls
Bread from the bakery disappearing

Please note that you will need to start a new campaign for the game to properly generate the balance changes into your Kingdom. In order to do that follow these steps:

Allow your current game to load
Open the menu
Select "Campaign"
Select a blank campaign save
Enjoy the changes!

Once again, we would like to say thank you to all the monarchs who have helped us track and identify these bugs. We will continue to work diligently on Kingdom Two Crowns and the big 2019 QoL patch. Happy Holidays!

Features:

Added hunting during winter, not all animals hibernate.
Winter is tough, time to forage for survival.
Added a day time hobby for the Shinobi.
Opening every chest, regardless of your coin purses capacity, is sooooo tempting. We designed it that way after all, maybe too well. But that’s okay, we added a shady character who can take the gems off your hands, if you manage to find it.
Adicionar o português brasileiro nas opções de idioma.

Fixes:

Forge now spawns correctly.
Added failsafe for rogue hermits which would cause it to become impossible to travel away from islands as the game was waiting for a hermit who never spawned to board the boat.
Improved Russian language option.
Fixed several Client purchasing sync issues (Squires, Forge and Bomb).
Fixed several sync issues around island transitions.
Fixed a few Multiplayer sound issues.
Added save data compression.
Improved appearance of shops on the edge of your kingdom walls as you expand.
Fixed a number of graphical biome issues.
Fixed an issue with the Horn Hermit tower in online sessions.

Balance:

Switching steeds in the stable is now more about strategic choices.
Winter Update
_____
Dear Monarchs!

We’d like to thank everyone that eagerly built their kingdoms spanning across many lands, each filled with secrets to be discovered. As your kingdoms expanded for each passing day, the seasons were passing as well. Eventually winter comes, which can be very harsh if your coffers are empty, making you hunker down behind safety of the walls as the Greed descend upon your Kingdom to pillage during the night. In the previous game Kingdom: New Lands, the intention was to escape the land with winter being the end state. In Kingdom Two Crowns however you must persevere through winter to spring and end the Greed. However, there is good news, the citizens have discovered new ways to be more active during winter allowing for more options to continue your plight against the Greed. Read below for more details:

Hunting during winter:
While the smaller animals go into winter hibernation, there’s other animals that suddenly appear as the snow starts falling on the ground. But beware that you must first find this menacing animal deep in the forest, and once confronted it’s much tougher than the regular small game that roamed outside the walls of your kingdom during spring, summer and autumn.

Foraging during winter:
Since the farms can’t harvest during winter, the Farmers have discovered foraging to bring in a bit of extra income. It’s not much but every bit helps.

Shinobi:
Who says being a stealth warrior at night is all we’re good for?! During long nights of waiting in ambush the Shinobi came up with a brilliant way to pass time during the day instead of just sleeping.

Introducing the Gem Chest:
Those gems sure are a heavy burden to carry around while you explore for valuable upgrades to use gems on. Now you can lighten your purse and store the gems in a stone chest. This appears by the Wharf once you’ve upgraded your Kingdom to a Stone Castle. Storing gems is a costly business, so it won’t be free for the Monarch to offload those precious gems.

Other updates:
In addition to the above there’s also fixes and changes such as an upgrade to the Stable to make switch Steeds more affordable, improving appearance of shops on the edge of your kingdom walls as you expand, and optimisation of save data compression, to mention a few. We have also included Brazilian-Portuguese as a language option and improved the Russian text.

SteamOS (Linux)

Kingdom Two Crowns is coming soon to Linux. For eager monarchs, there’s a beta branch that can be tested on Steam. Please provide us with feedback and reports bugs by using this form.

What holds the future for Kingdom Two Crowns?

In the immediate future there will be more quality of life updates like this Winter update. We promised new locations similar to the Japanese setting in Shogun. These will be coming later down the road and all we can say is that it will be worth the wait! But before venturing into completely new lands, there will be an update with Challenge Islands. These offer an alternative experience to the campaign with a tougher roguelike gameplay and custom rules. More on that later. Now venture forth and overthrow the Greed!

A Challenge Awaits the Wisest Monarchs
_____
Kingdom Two Crowns: Challenge Islands represents the greatest challenge ever seen for hardened veteran monarchs. Can you survive long enough to claim the Gold Crown?

Kingdom Two Crowns: Challenge Islands is a free update coming on August 29th! These themed islands offer an alternative experience to the campaign with tougher roguelike gameplay and each with its own custom rules. Drawing inspiration from Kingdom: Classic and Kingdom: New Lands, each challenge takes place on a unique land with a single attempt to conquer it. If you lose your crown, you lose the game.

Each Challenge Island has associated goals to overcome and rewards you with a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Crown when you reach their milestones. The acclaimed Gold Crown is very difficult to obtain, you’ll have to be a very strategic monarch with plenty of experience to survive long enough to even be within reach. These are truly formidable challenges for the most experienced of monarchs!

There are three different Challenge Islands to begin with, each tailored for the lonesome monarch as there’s no co-op to help lighten the burden of the difficult challenges ahead. We plan to add additional Challenge Islands further down the road.

With the new Dire Wolf mount as your aid, protect its pup at all costs. No crown, no monarch. No pup, no monarch! Now build the boat and try to escape as you run to as many islands as possible before the inevitable.

Time is running out and you must destroy the Greed Lairs, that’s right “Lairs”, PLURAL! With a Greed Lair on each side and several Greed Portals in between this challenge is fit for only the gods that walk amongst Monarchs. And don’t forget about the volcano that is waiting to explode!

This land has been overrun and on the brink of succumbing to the Greed… FOREVER! And now a fearsome pandemic is transforming citizens into Greed. The only thing you can do is try to survive as long as possible until your Kingdom is nothing but Greed.

Can you survive the toughest obstacles to claim the Gold Crown on each Challenge Island? We doubt it!
Challenge Islands are here!

Challenge Islands hot fix update
_____
Attention monarchs!

An update to Kingdom Two Crowns brings some changes to balancing and fixes following the recent Challenge Islands update.

Solved several crashes that occurred when loading the game after the latest Challenge Islands update due to the addition of the Dire Wolf steed and it's cute little pup that corrupted the regular dog with tremendous jealousy in the campaign.
Balancing of the Plague Island difficulty level to make it achievable.
No longer becoming indefinitely stuck after dying in the cave.
Corrected the issue where invisible wall sometimes occurred after it was destroyed by greed.
Bomb no longer becoming stuck after purchased.
Fix for map becoming stuck open when opening it whilst on island 5.
Boar spawn should no longer disappear unexpectedly.
Also fix for boar repeatedly spawning after initial spawn.
This mentions "online" changes but the GoG version does not support online play.

Are you planning to ever add online support to this version?
Wait, the Windows version doesn't even have online play ? But then, why the heck don't we have the Linux version ? Sounds really like second class treatment.

Clearly not the time to buy this yet. Afaic, I'm waiting for the Linux version...
Patch Update 1.1.15, 1st march 2022

Bug fixes:
Patched up the money purse. Coins should no longer drop randomly without the ruler's consent.
Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent the player from sailing away to another island. The issue seems to have been related to the refresh rate of the player's monitor. Please let us know if the problem still occurs by sending a report to our support portal!
Archers in the Norse Lands setting should now have enough courage to actually board the boat when the ruler rings the bell, instead of idling by the dock.
Removed some sweet tunes so that only one music track, rather than two, is playing over the credits after the player has destroyed the final Greed cave in the campaign.
Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the game to crash and display a Unity error on boot.
The achievements "On the Ninth Day" and "I am an Equestrian" should now trigger correctly.
Fixed several mechanics and visual issues for the Crusher Greed.
Fixed an issue that would force the game to boot in 5x zoom after the first load, regardless of previous settings.
Fixed a visual issue that would sometimes cause the armor to turn invisible on armored Big Greed.
Fixed an issue that would cause Big Greed to follow a ruler transformed by Loki or Gebel's ability.
Fixed a visual issue that would cause Greed copied by Loki's ability to highlight incorrectly when it suffers damage.
Fixed a visual issue in the Shogun setting that would cause the Warhorse mount to display the wrong skin when using the Inspire ability.
Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the Norse Lands item shrine to cycle to a different item while the ruler was making a payment.
Fixed a rare issue that prevented players from earning ranks in Challenge Islands.
Fixed the positions of layers and backgrounds for several structures in the game.
Fixed an error in the Korean localization.
Minor visual, UI, and audio fixes.

Changes:
Your ruler will now wear the cursed crown in all campaign settings after earning it in all single-player Challenge Islands.
The Sleipnir mount will now show the correct running animation in the forest.
Units who are called to the walls by the Horn will now stand closer to the action.
Players will now have different colored wolf cubs when playing co-op Dire Island in the Shogun setting.

Additions:
Added a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F12 on Windows/Linux, Cmd+F12 on Mac) that immediately exports your save file and logs to a zipped file on your desktop. This should prove helpful if you ever need to report an issue to our support portal.

Onward and safe travels!

ERISS: Patch Update 1.1.15, 1st march 2022

Bug fixes:
Patched up the money purse. Coins should no longer drop randomly without the ruler's consent.

Onward and safe travels!
Hi not sure what you mean here the ruler/s in my case still drop massive amounts of coins when the purse is full, really annoying that the followers keep offering large amounts of geld despite the fact the ruler has no way to carry it, I would prefer the ruler not pick up or accept coins when the purse is full... or is this related to a not full purse coin drop? which I've sometimes noticed but at worst would say is very very minor...

Patch Update 1.1.16 0 (May 9th 2022)
_____
New difficulty settings and something is going on with a particular shrine...

"Ah, Monarchs!

Even though your Kingdom has been quiet lately, it's still a welcome sight to see you in full health. Your lands prosper through all the challenges you've overcome, and I can't even imagine what difficulties could hope to confron-"

Suddenly a storm picks up! It rushes through the fields, startling the mounts at the stable and knocking over many an archer. With it carries a voice on the wind.

"Ha Ha Ha, oh mortals... So complacent. That's no fun at all."

As the storm settles, you trudge through your lands, clearing the debris whipped up from the wind; there's one location that stands undisturbed; whatever could this mean?

Hmm, well aside of some Shrine shenanigans, we also have some big news for you; there are now new difficulty settings for Kingdom Two Crowns! We heard you loud and clear when it came to different challenges for different folks, and we hope you enjoy setting up in peaceful or cursed lands. Thank you for being so patient in waiting for us to bring this feature. Please be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!

We'd love to see screenshots of your lands during these new settings or even play by plays of how you got through the toughest difficulty setting!

There are also some good balance changes and bug fixes listed below. If you encounter any issues or bugs, please get in touch with us via our support desk

Now, onto our beautiful bullet points!
Features

Added difficulty modes to Kingdom Two Crowns! You can now conquer your Kingdom in one of the following difficulty modes: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Cursed. The different modes will adjust the spawn rate of the Greed to your preference.
Norse Lands: There is something strange ab--ᛟᚢᛏ ᚦᛖ ᛊᛏᚨᚠᚠ ᚷᚱᚨᚾᛏᛖᛞ ᛒᛁ ᚦᛖ ᛚᛟᚲᛁ ᛊᚺᚱᛁᚾᛖ… ᚨᛊ ᛁᛟᚢ ᛈᛖᛖᚱ ᛁᚾᛏᛟ ᚦᛖ ᛊᛏᚨᚠᚠ ᛁᛟᚢ ᚲᚨᚾ ᚨᛚᛗᛟᛊᛏ ᚺᛖᚨᚱ ᚦᛖ ᚷᛟᛞ ᛟᚠ ᛗᛁᛊᚲᚺᛁᛖᚠ. ᛁᛊ ᚺᛖ… ᚲᚺᚢᚲᚲᛚᛁᛜ?
Norse Lands: The ghost will now teach new rulers how to purchase shields and activate the Shield wall.

Balance changes

The game will now give you an extra moment to recover your crown (or dog, in Dire Island) before the game is lost.
Greed portals will not open as easily when the ruler gallops past them.
Ballista towers are now taller. Their arrows will strike true and no longer get stuck in walls as often.
Farms will now deploy farmlands more quickly.
Small improvements to Knights and their Archers in combat.

Global fixes

We did another pass on patching up the coin purse - coins should no longer drop randomly without the ruler's consent. For real this time! (But do tell us if it still happens.)
We also fixed an issue that would sometimes cause some coins to turn invisible when making a payment in co-op mode, and an issue that would sometimes cause Players 2’s coin purse to stop working.
Your dog should no longer get so excited that it would sometimes disappear while howling at a blood moon.
Fixed an issue that made it impossible to switch back to a steed that was previously used by the ruler.
Fixed a bug where buildings would sometimes not spawn when revisiting an island in a later reign.
Fixed an issue that would cause abandoned bomb barrels and fire barrels to never be used again.
Fixed several visual issues with the coat of arms.
Norse Lands: The Crusher Greed and the wild boar should now collide properly with the Kelpie’s ice wall ability.
Norse Lands: Fixed several issues with Berserker potions and towers.
Norse Lands: Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the ruler ability shrine to highlight and purchase a different item while the ruler is making a payment.
Minor visual improvements and bug fixes.

Multiplayer

Fixed several issues that could appear in online multiplayer with high latency.
