There are lots of tech problems surrounding this game, but as a positive from someone who's running it fine... this game is brilliant. I'm not massively far into it, but the soundtrack, graphics, soundfx, writing... the general attention to detail... it's all amazing. It's the first game I've played that's nailed the look of nighttime. It's just spot on!

Sure, not everything is perfect, and I can see where corners have been cut, but I love how immersive the world is. I get sucked into it every time I play. It's a place I just want to hang out in.

Long story short, I didn't realise the game would be as good as it is...
i saw a preview for it 2 years ago and wanted it ever since. pre -ordered as soon as it was advertised on here and have already played it 6 times, every time making new discoveries. the historical element for me was a huge drawcard- i love that it's based on true events and everything is genuine of the period. i'm with you- LOVE this game!!!
Agreed with both of you. I had criticized the devs months ago on this forum because they were telling users to just use Galaxy (the *optional* client) for updates. But I love the heck out of this game. The immersion, when coupling the mechanics, gorgeous graphics, lore (well, history, really), and overall atmosphere, is truly a feat. I continue to recommend to people to buy this game DRM-free on GOG. After The Witcher 3, I think it's the next best modern game here!
"I'm not massively far into it"

This is why you are currently impressed with this game. I was too at first. Just wait until one day when you are at a loading screen and it never finishes loading. You just sit there and sit there waiting forever and cannot complete the game. The honeymoon was over at that point for me. I quickly became disillusioned with the game. And by the way, I will never understand why some people get these infinite loading screens and others seem not to. Hopefully it doesn't happen to you.

kind of a bummer that you can't progress your character as easy than just progress with the main story.
collecting mushrooms, herbs, etc... wanna sell..? nope! here is your nearly nothing money.
progress with main story - boom lots of dead man in front of you selling boku bux.
boom here is horse for nothing with extra bags.

other than that, stellar game so far and extra points for skipping the fantasy out of medieval fantasy for once.

i'm a few hours in and 10/10 so far.
I got the game during the GOG ten-year anniversary sale--finally it was priced right to suit me! I am very impressed--especially with the graphics engine--I have a 3840x2160 monitor, and what has most impressed me about this engine is the fact that it looks 99% as good at 1920x1200/1080, or 2560x1440, as it looks at my native 4k resolution! I'm not really sure why that is--but it is much appreciated--the game is splendid looking @ 4k--and almost exactly as splendid looking at lower resolutions--while delivering a better frame rate, too. When I bump most games down below my native res--the scaling is evident and the drop in resolution very noticeable. Not so here! It seems to scale beautifully @ lower resolutions on my 4k rgb monitor (advanced true 10-bit --not FRC--color) ...;) Again, don't ask me why...;) I'm just enjoying it!
