Rough around the edges, buggy, learning curve, blah blah...well of course those are valid criticisms, but eventually you have to place yourself in one of two camps:

Innovation
or
Refinement

In our culture and economy, a Refinement approach (Think Call of Duty 27: Black Ops 9) tends to achieve relatively higher sales and review scores than an Innovative approach (Shenmue/Supreme Commander)*, but that doesn't mean it's actually a better game. Review scores and other's opinions affect us, whether we want to admit it or not.

As someone who plays and enjoys a wide variety of games, I will take the innovation anyday. At the end of the day, if you are looking at buying this game, you know that you are the type of gamer who might enjoy it, then go for it.

It's a fantastic experience, I played it on Xbox One X when it came out and I gave it another shot on this GOG winter sale here and it has come such a long way. It was already great, but it has continued to improve. Certainly more worth the money now than ever.

I applaud this innovative approach to the "western RPG" genre, and look forward to not only the imitators/refiners but the next innovation from the developers. I hope anyone on the fence just goes ahead and grabs the game because I think, despite it's great reviews, it's an underrated game due to the relatively innovative approach of its design.

Thanks, and have Fun (or don't, I certainly did, but it's your call)

*a few achieve both (Zelda), but that ideal is far from the norm and not the focus of the concept here.
I agree this game is great and for sure the best game in 2018 for me.

The combat might be scaring people away since it's pretty hard, atleast in the beginning. And it's always very hard when you are outnumbered (and it should be). When you actually learn how the combat works it's pretty amazing though.
I also think about buying this game. But I want the complete experience. At the moment there are the following DLCs available: From the Ashes, Treasures of the Past, Bold Sir Hans Capon.

Is there anything more to come?

Yes.
The DLC roadmap - at least the last one I remember: http://forum.kingdomcomerpg.com/t/dlc-roadmap/56958

You can go look at their forums in more detail to see, if anything's changed in the schedule.

Cool, thanks. Seems they are a bit behind schedule. Anyway, I hope there will be a complete version one day with all DLCs in one package.
Quest breaking bugs 10 months after release (mention cuman to hans capon during next to godliness and game will be stuck with you and lord bro taking bath for eternity) ?
Unresponsive combat - Henry doesnt react to input (despite combat skills being at 15+) ?
Still it's hard to stop playing this, shame devs didnt want to work on it a bit more.

This should be completely unacceptable for any game. I believe the developers were overly ambitious with this project and that the game will never function properly. I can't even mount a freakin horse and had to abandon The Hunt Begins mission in the main quests.

the best thing is when you get stuck on a horse after opening a map...I mean, just checking the map when on your trusty steed causes Henry to stop responding to any input - alt F4 is required.
Now Im doing another tournament in Rattay, after defeating first two opponents game went into infinite loading screen before the third one. This game frustrates me almost as much as I love it. Once again alt F4, and Ive lost progress I made in tournament since you cant save between rounds.
I can't even mount a horse, so I'm not stuck on one. This game is beyond frustrating and never should have been released in the condition it is currently in, which is still alpha or beta in my opinion. I think I will have to finally abandon Kingdom Come and play Witcher 3 instead.

Compared to Skyrim this game is pretty much bug free. Skyrim has an unofficial patch which literally fixes thousands of bugs, and even with this unofficial patch Skyrim still has bugs and crashes all the time, after 8 years of mod makers trying to patch it.
For me personally, I played Skyrim and never experienced any bugs. I mean absolutely none. Now I only played the main quest and a few side missions but still. In Kingdom Come, I can't even mount a horse in the main quest. And that's bug free?? Lol. Skyrim is a very well made game compared to Kingdom Come in my opinion.

Here is the list of bugs that the unofficial patch currently fixes, hope you aren't afraid of walls of text: https://afkmods.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Skyrim%20Special%20Edition%20Patch%20Version%20History.html

Note that this is the Skyrim Special Edition list, meaning that Bethesda re-released the game in 2016 with extremely many known bugs aswell which is just completely unacceptable to me.

It's one of the buggiest games ever released, and this patch cannot fix everything either. There are engine bugs and save game corruption bugs among other things that are impossible to fix without the source code to the game, you can bypass some of them with SKSE64 mods which hooks into the game executable.

Anyways, Bethesda have proven how incompetent they are now with Fallout 76 which is unable to be modded, so now everyone has to play that glitchy mess without any comptent mod makers out to save their hide.
Interesting.... I didn't realize that. Skyrim worked well for me. I was playing it fully patched through steam and everything seemed to work out for me. However, I did play Skyrim casually. I didn't dig too deep into it.
