I missed the steam sale which I meant to pickup everything KCD had on sale. Seems like GOG still have the same sale but I'm worried that the GOG version won't be updated as often as the Steam version. I have read in many cases the GOG version is simply abandoned by the developers. I know this is not GOG but up to the developers so I'm asking should I go ahead and buy it on GOG or just wait for Steam go on sale again?

No one can say anything for certain on that matter. Sure, the version here might be temporarily behind steam with regards to updates (has happend with various games on occasion, but it rarely stays like that for more than a few days). On the other hand, the steam version could disappear for whatever reason the day after tomorrow and here you would still have you local copy to fall back on etc... hard to say anything for certain.

Based on what I've seen the 'patches' have sometimes been one or two days late but that is because gog requires more stability then steam when patching and the updates on gog have been more stable then the patches on steam that have quickly needed hot fixing. There have not been any noticable delays in patching from what I have seen on the gog version compared to steam and I have had no regrets buying the game on gog.
