onarum: I mean seriously... I just can't get them to land, like ever... when training with bernard they land easily, then I go out, find some bandit, do the EXACT SAME THING, and nothing... I don't get it.
There are two components of performance in combat. The first is input (clicking or pressing a key). The other is the interplay of character statistics. For blocking and landing an attack the relevant stats are “warfare” (for the attacker) and “defence” (for the defender).
The higher your warfare and the lower the opponent’s defence, the longer you actually have to “land” a block or attack in combat. The lower your warfare and the higher their defence, the more impossible it gets because the time windows get ridiculously tiny.
This means that you should train with Bernard more – until you get a stat increase or two in “warfare”. Alternatively, you can just try to fight weak bandits using the simplest strategies until “warfare” increases. When that happens, fighting should get easier.
BTW: other stats also have hidden buffs / debuffs. For example, you hand will stop shaking when drawing an arrow when you reach level 5 bow mastery.
