I had no idea up until reading some reviews from Steam players that Kingdom Come Deliverance requires you to find a bed or drink a potion of some kind that costs 75+ Gold each(and also weighs you down) just to save.
This way of saving progress sounds like it could be a welcome challenge if not optional if only the game wasn't currently riddled with bugs, a user on Steam reported that their character died upon opening a chest with a lockpick successfully, and therefore lost time/progress because of it.

Hopefully Warhorse will update the game making the current save system an OPTIONAL feature, similar to Ironman mode being an OPTIONAL way to play Xcom.

Will no longer be purchasing though, until Warhorse does a course correction on this ridiculous save mechanic, or when modders create a solid solution to this.

UPDATE:
Warhorse is making changes to the save system. At minimum a "Save & Quit" function will be added with a update that will be released roughly around the same time as the GOG version is released. BTW, if you're going to get it, get it here, the Steam version reportedly doesn't allow the game to start without an internet connection(for a singleplayer game...), and also wont start if Steam is in Offline mode, or if Steam has no connection due to maintenance.

It's already modded out. You can save anytime now, if you have at least one save potion in your inventory.

And yeah, I agree. It's a good idea on a paper, I like these kind of gameplay challenges, but this would be better suited to more linear RPGs. A sprawling open-world RPG is not a good game for such a system.
Saving system works like this, you have several options:

1 - By using Saviour Schnapps , you can have "unlimited" amount of them in your inventory, horse inventory and also in you stash. Each potion weights 0.5.
2 - By sleeping in bed or anything similar to bed. Game is saved even after 1 hour of sleep.
3 - By using bath services, game is saved afterwards.
4 - After starting new quest or important update in quest, your game is saved automatically.

For the Saviour Schnapps, you can get it from vendors for various price or you can make by using alchemy which costs almost nothing. They can be found as random loot or from hidden stashes, etc.

So after several hours of playing I have to say that this save system is very good. It makes you think before any action.
Ofc, it sucks if you are experiencing game crashes, etc.

So you still have save system, but a bit limited.

There's also the version where you don't even need any Saviour Schnapps in your inventory.
Yeah, the saving isn't a problem, thank you modders.
