Tried on 2 PCs, Win 10 and 11, no difference.
Game starts, no save in AppData\Local\3DClouds\KOS\Saved\
no folder SaveGames created, no save game files.

Neither after tutorial, nor when you play longer and harbored multiple times.
Just Downloaded it 3 days ago setup_king_of_seas_1.20_(51344)

I love this little fun action sea fight game but without save it is senseless.

I started playing the game today and have the same issue on Windows 7. According to the steam thread, the gog version has been unable to save since June 2021 (version1.15). It blows my mind that the devs put so much work into the game after release but have failed to fix this game-ruining bug.

The last update was November 2021 and there doesn't seem to be any dev activity since then (no real tweets; the game website is currently down), so it looks like the only course of action is a refund.
Everytime I think about this game and remember it doesn't save, it makes me sad.

UPDATE: I've found a working solution.

Download the latest version of Nucleus Co-op, but do not install it. Instead, look inside the zip file for this dll.

NucleusApp.zip\NucleusCo-op\utils\NemirtingasGalaxyEmu\x64\Galaxy64.dll

Replace the dll in the King of Seas installation directory with the one from the zip file.

..\KOS\Plugins\OnlineSubsystemGOG\Source\ThirdParty\GalaxySDK\Libraries\Galaxy64.dll

Now the game will write save files to the hard drive like it's supposed to.

Thanks a lot for posting this, I tried this and it works for me! It´s a shame that both the developer and GOG support ignore this major bug till today, I never got a satisfying answer after contacting them.
Now I can finally begin my pirate quest thanks to your new found fix! :)

Thanks a LOT for this.
I tried to simply delete/rename the "Galaxy64.dll" file (in "..\KOS\Plugins\OnlineSubsystemGOG\Source\ThirdParty\GalaxySDK\Libraries\Galaxy64.dll"), and the game is now working perfectly !

thanks a lot, i can confirm that just deleting the "Galaxy64.dll" from
C:\GOG Games\King of Seas\KOS\Plugins\OnlineSubsystemGOG\Source\ThirdParty\GalaxySDK\Libraries\
is enough to allow the game to finally save and load saved game !
(i use the offline installer, i don't use galaxy)

Yup confirmed. Just delete Galaxy64.dll in ..\KOS\Plugins\OnlineSubsystemGOG\Source\ThirdParty\GalaxySDK\Libraries\Galaxy64.dll
and the game will start saving.
So lol-able to have that be the solution. Thank you for confirming.
Wow, disgusting that GOG doesn't have enough power to fix this severe bug with that minor effort.
Explains a lot why this/was is a free giveaway today...

It will solve the problem entirely.
I've been playing the game for a long time now since gog gave it away for free.
Currently at level 38 and i have progressed in missions a lot, without any saving problem anymore.

So yes, deleting the Galaxy64.dll as mentionned in that thread fixes the bug entirely.

I still wonder why gog hasn't updated the offline installer since all that time to get rid of that file by default.
Came here to comment on not having my save game anywhere to be found and game settings not being saved..
This is pretty unbelievable that this would not by solved by now..
Came here because of exactly this problem. Didn't know Team17 isn't worth anything anymore. Thank you for the help!
