Wow yeah the logitech application was causing my crashing too, after exiting the program it runs fine now. Thanks medea_dei.
Hey guys & gals. It was Logitech for me too. But there is an important thing you may miss. Even if you close the main app there might be programs running like logitech smooth scroller etc in the background. Don't forget to close them too in case game doesn't work.
Just tested this in Win 8 x64. runs as expected, 640 x 480 resolution with letterbox.
Yeah, I closed all the Logitech application and it seems to work now.
That's good to hear, no change for me as I don't have any Logitec processes running and the error seem to occur rather at installation, see my post before.

Admin rights no/yes don't change a thing either.
The only time I've had success running this is by running it in Windowed mode and having it shift to 640 x 480. However since at that resolution the windowed mode is too small to show the whole game I have to manually change my resolution to something a bit higher. Kind of annoying.
I have same problem like most of you. It's pretty strange for me because it's first GOG game with running difficulties. I check compatibility mode, resolution, all your suggestions.
Even switch off some of running tasks, also I don't have any of Logitech products. Any idea guys?

*UPDATE*
In my case help when I put it on the DEP exception list. (System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Data Execution Prevention).

*UPDATE 2*
OK. It helps but only ONCE. Now still it doesn't work.

*UPDATE 3*
Finally I run it, the best solution was that one from another topic:

I solved this problem on my windows 8.1 computer by going into task manager, going to details, right clicking on KoDP and click on analyze wait chain. then I ended any processes in that wait chain and it start to work fine. I hope this works for everyone else!
That's good advice, just one more thing: this function is also available on Windows 7, just not in task manager. If you're using W7, use Resource Monitor instead.

I've written a launcher program. It can be found at Github as KoDP-Launcher (I cannot post links atm).

It should run your game and scale it to full sceen windowed mode.
The launcher does also search for blocking processes like SetPoint.

It seems to work on my system (Windows 8.1 x64).

"Seems" because I had to do some fancy window moving in the background and I don't know if I routed all needed windows messages to the right destination.
I was having this problem but the solution Mapeta quoted of using resource monitor to check the wait chain fixed it for me. Apparently it was iTunes that was stopping it from running for me.
