Really like the game so far but I think I am stuck. I am in the long game and my chief has been king of my tribe for 11 years since then I have performed every heroquest successfully, but Einarth hasn't come back yet. From looking around it seems like he should have by now for the next part of the game. Any ideas?

Einarth? The seer? Nope, the fella isn't coming back. You have to ride out the rest of the game. Look for opportunities to make peace between warring tribes, and you know you're coming close to the endgame.

I have a similiar problem as bjbaer. My chief has now been king for 15 years, I did every heroquest once. Sarka bright-eyes had tried to form a kingdom, but died. After that I fought the tribe king which declared himself to be the new leader.
Now I'm waiting for the appearance of this feathered horse queen, like described in the manual, since 10 years! But she wouldn't show up.... The game moves on and there isn't happening much. Can I do something to make her appear and carry on with the mainquest? Or is there some kind of bug, that prevents me from ending the game?

Hope someone can help... Meanwhile I play a few more years, hoping the queen will show herself eventually.

You may have not done anything wrong with the game. If you are in the Long Game, it can take around 40-45 years for the final events to unfold. Yes, this means you can have a very old monarch in the end game...
Thanks for the encouraging reply. I played along and after eight more years the horse queen finally appeared and I was able to finish the game without trouble. Good thing, that my chief was still young, when he became king of my tribe.
My 18 years of waiting felt quite long, but it was worth it. What a great game!
Ya! The game is fantastic. It takes a while to get a handle on how it all works, but it has great depth. Watching the Let's Play helped me a lot.
So, in the long game I also need the SAME clan member to be king of the tribe all the time? 10 years in the short game are manageble, but 30 or more would be really quite a challenge...

Isn't it possible to just place a successor from your clan on the throne and still win as long as you perform all the heroquests while being king (with someone from your clan)?

I assume when you lose kingship the long game is over just as the short game?

Nope, you can, and will often lose the crown in the long game. It's not game over, you can get it back later (Heortling tribes are elective monarchy, so you don't have a "succession", but an election each time a king resigns or dies)

So long as the tribe and your clan survive, you can become king and win the game. It's only game over if your king dies during the end game, while trying to form the kingdom

So, do I have to perform the heroquests WHILE being king (as in the short game)? Or can I become king later on? Or do in any order I like (king, not king, heroquest, king, heroquest, not king......)?
You have to perform the quests after forming the tribe. Don't remember if you need to be king during them, though. I'd say it's not necessary, but my only experience in the endgame (a shrewd Issaries merchant who became Tribe queen, then Queen of Dragon Pass) is quite a few years old.

Alright, thanks for the answers. It doesn't really turn out 100% perfectly clear through the manual.

I'll try to summarize winning conditions:
Short game: Form a tribe, make one of your clan members king of the tribe, hold the crown with this king for ten consecutive years and perform the necessary heroquests during this period.
Long game: Form a tribe, then do the necessary heroquests and become the tribe's king, in the end become king of Dragon Pass.

Ouh, just lost a long game after more than 60 years. It was pretty close (I guess?): I performed the seventh heroquest just before the message of the new chosen king of Dragon Pass arrived. Just a bit year earlier and I'd probably have been considered myself. Well, off to a new game then. :)
