Hi anyone, I know this board is sparse due to the newness of Kenshi here, but wanted to try and see if anybody knows anything about this admittedly very minor issue I'm curious about.

I've covered the entire (currently available portion of) the map to the east of an imagined straight line from The Hive to Cannibal Plains. After searching all the Bars multiple times, I've found a total of 1 Grasslander recruit, 2 of those rocky alien guys (forgive me, name escapes me at the moment), 0 Skeletons... and about 10+ Scorchlanders.

While I don't have a problem with Scorchlanders, I do love variety in my squads, so... is that just kinda how it is? Will I find more Grasslanders, Skeletons, and rocky guys in the more dangerous western areas of the map? Is it random, and that's just the luck of the draw for this playthrough?

Just curious if anyone knows if I will someday have my Happy Kumbaya Rainbow of Everyone Squad :)
I think it is random. I find Greenlanders mostly, sometimes a Hiver, Shek or Scorchlander. I had twice the luck of recruiting a Skeleton. I started a new game and have not seen a recruitable skeleton since :(

My current team is 9 Greenlanders, 2 hive people (a Prince and a Soldier drone), 2 Scorchlanders, 1 Shek and 1 dog.

Note: You will not find Skeletons in Holy nation cities.

I'm up to 29 people, and I never found anyone but humans. :(

Dogs can be bought and Hive people and Shek are not that rare. Skeletons are imho.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience guys!

Hmm, well that sucks, but it's not like it ruins the game or anything as I'm still having fun with it. I really hope it changes as I progress because I love the aesthetics of a mixed party. Good fortune on your adventures in the wasteland(?)!
If you are using the Experimental releases two Shek cities are added in the South of the map (at least in 0.93.17). There you are guaranteed to find Shek recruits.

I restarted, have 8 Greenlanders, 2 Scorchlanders and 4 Shek now. 1 Shek recruited in Holy Nation territory, the other 3 in Shek territory. If only Skeletons were a bit easier to get.
Right? I've not encountered even one!

Thanks for the info on the two cities. If you don't mind my asking, when you restarted, did any of the experience your hero & recruits accrue during the first playthrough carry over to the second? I'd restart, but I've already made a lot of progress leveling up...

If you want to keep (some of) your progress you have to import your savegame into a new game. Then you have the option to keep stuff as research and your buildings if you wish so. Your squad(s) will remain and keep their experience/gear. AFAIK in earlier releases new recruits were there if you imported your savegame into a new game. Now in 0.94.22 it seems that the recruits are always the same. Example: When there are 2 skeletons in a certain location - lets call them Clifford and Wee - you recruit them, import your savegame into a new game and return to that location then there are again 2 skeletons named Clifford and Wee. If you want to have a squad consisting of 10 skeletons - now you can.

Thank you for the answer and info! Hmm, that sounds both good and bad -- if, like you say, I want a definite type of party member "drop", I know exactly where to go to get it, but it does take out some of the random fun. Oh well, I can make it work.
