Title says it all. Have anyone been able to play Just Cause 2 on Linux? When I start the game it just crashes immediately (stuck at black screen).

Thanks for reading!
A ./play.it contributor is on it, and already played successfully through the first mission.

We should have experimental game support for Just Cause 2 ready soon.

Thanks for the answer. I have never used ./play.it but if it can make Just Cause 2 I will definetely use it. Thanks!
I will share the tweaks we use, so that you can reproduce them manually if you don’t want to use ./play.it-generated packages to install your game ;)

Oh, that would be very nice to try out -- at least if it isn't too much trouble for you.

Not_you: stuck at black screen
Working around the black screen at launch might be as simple as a basic winetricks call:
winetricks d3dcompiler_47
Make sure you are using WINE ≥ 6.0, I could not get the game to run with WINE 5.0.3 (I have not tried 5.0.4 nor 5.0.5).

Experimental support for Just Cause 2 is ready, if you want to give it a try:
Just Cause 2 (!250) - Merge requests - play.it / Core game scripts collection - GitLab

We only have support for English and French localizations of the game, but we could add other languages if they are requested.

That worked! Thank you so much for your help, I can now play the game! Thank you :). I haven't had time to play the game yet, but I tried one of the benchmarks and it seemed to work completely fine, only small issue is performance. I get 60-100 fps with a rx 5700 xt, but I think it is a game that does not support higher than 60 fps otherwise the physics will be weird, but I am not sure. Thank you so much for the help!
That’s great, have fun ;)
After a bit of reading and tweaking I got the game running seemingly well enough with Bottles. Without DXVK there are transparency issues. I also had a weird issue where the game ran fine, but moving the mouse caused severe frame drops. Apparently the game has issues with mouse polling rates above 250Hz or so. After I plugged in my secondary mouse the game worked fine and I finished the tutorial mission without a hitch. So Wine compatibility isn't great, but can work.

I'd the same issue. It was installed using Heroic Game Launcher. The screen goes black after start and sucks there.

My solution is: use winetricks and install d3dcompiler_47 library. After installing it the game starts using either: Proton Experimental, Wine-Wine-Proton-GE or Lutris-WIne-Proton-GE.
