I have not installed any codec packs since my last re-format. I do install and use VLC player regularly, but I don't think that would interfere.
Anyhow, I'll look int to a new cinepac codec. Thanks for the tip.
BTW, running Windows XP.
EDIT: Nope. Definetly not interference from a different codec pack, as I've never installed one. Moreover, I can watch the video files themselves (from the data directory) in either quicktime or VLC Media player. I only installed quicktime seven just yesterday thinking perhaps a quicktime installation was required in order to view the videos. Prior to and following installation of quicktime 7, the problem has persisted.
EDIT EDIT: I should also mention that during the splash screen, I can hear the audio from the file, IE: The Red Orb WOOOSH noises play which are incorporated in to the video file. I can watch the red orb splash screen video in either VLC or Quicktime, but not in the game application.
Is it wrong that I'm annoyed? I mean, I realize the game is only 5 dollars, but when I get excited to play something only to find that I have to waste my precious time after work puttsing around with my computer... Sigh...
