Windows 7 64-bit

Every time I run the game, the cinematics refuse to play (always audio, no video). I can solve this by opening my task manager, or by just skipping them (seen them a million times), but then my main menu is, and remains no matter what, a black screen even though I can interact with it. I can start a new game by clicking approximately where I know the new game button to be, and exposition cinematic will start playing, but afterwards the game crashes (no error messages, just that it stopped running). I've tried updating my drivers, updating my os, redownloading DirectX, reinstalling and restarting multiple times, running as administrator, and changing compatibility modes. Nothing works and no one else seems to have encountered this problem. I love this game! Please help me!

Have you given windowed mode a go? Seemed to work for someone else, so probably worth a try.
I tried making the new folders and file, and now I get the first frame of the Red Orb intro video, but everything else is the same. How exactly do I create the new .ini file, and does it matter what the folders are titled?

EDIT: I tried again, and managed to make the task manager trick work (it didn't before). It's not windowed, but it does function. Hopefully this continues to work! Thanks so much timeslip!
