I recently found out that this game had been remade into a DVD downloadable version here on GOG so I decided to buy it. I used to love playing this game 15 or so years ago, so I got excited to finally be able to experience it again. However the video display is just not happening on my laptop. I have my laptop connected to a Dynex LCD TV with the screen resolution of 1360x768. The screen on the laptop itself is busted and unusable which is why I'm using the TV.
I launch the game, and the sound seems flawless. But I can't see anything. The Red Orb logo shows briefly for like a second, and the logo after that sorta plays, but most of the movie intros do not, and the menu options aren't view-able at all. If I guess and click at the spot just right where I think an options would be, it goes through with the next scene. But if I can't see anything I can't really play the game.
Also when a choppy video does manage to display, it's in the upper left corner of the screen. Same with the option-less menu.
I've tried with the compatibility options (having it play with Windows XP SP 3 and Windows 95 settings, along with the 640x480 resolutions check option), I've tried the windowed mode option other people used, with the %appdata% folder and the config.ini file, as well as the task manager solution. None of the solutions above changed anything what-so-ever.
Anybody have any tips that I may have missed? I'm desperate to try anything at this point. I just really wanna play this gem again.
