From the moment the game starts beginning at the PRESTO Studios splash screen, there is an incessant crackling background noise that persists through the game. It comes up at any time there is audio being played in the game.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? I've tried running the game in several compatibility modes but it seems to do nothing and the cracking makes the game unplayable.

Which game in the series is this affecting?

I have only tried JP1 and it is crackly for me, haven't tried the other ones yet.
Here's a Let's Play example of how the game should normally open:

Would it be possible for you to record and upload an example of the audio problem you're having for the programmers to observe? (phone video would be fine)
One of our programmers looked into this. Because this version of Pegasus Prime is based on the ScummVM engine, the audio problem may be related to sound card driver compatibility with ScummVM. Here is more information on this from ScummVM FAQ #16-17: http://www.scummvm.org/faq/#5_16

I will give this a try tonight and will update you. If it doesn't work, I will try and upload a video.

Thanks for your help.

That didn't work. However, I did notice that the problem only seems to be during the fullscreen cutscenes at the moment, not in the game in general so I can put up with it.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Same problem and this solution didn't work for me either. I would further note that I've not had this problem with any other games in ScummVM. I even tried running the game in VirtualBox with Windows XP, as opposed to Windows 7, and a different sound card and the sound popping/distortion still occured.

Is this issue being looked into on your end?

Please note that Pegasus Prime generally won't work under XP emulation because of lack of proper hardware support for OpenGL. Can you provide us with more details of your hardware setup here, or through Facebook or e-mail? Our contact information is at http://thejourneymanproject.com/presto/contactpresto.html
Hmm, I'm having the same issue as described by Ravenwolf - crackling during full screen cutscenes. Presto not able to reproduce this problem?
