If you encounter sound issues like i did with this game, such as static etc then try changing your audio acceleration settings.
Note my sound card is a Soundblaster Live 5.1 and my system is WinXP with Sp3.
Run dxdiag by gong to "Start" then "Run" and type "dxdiag.exe". Then under the sound section I set the "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" slider right down to Basic or no acceleration.
