blueskirt42: I know, but like I said, you cannot scan the guide without cutting the spine and ruining the book forever.

JMich: You did see post 7 in this very thread, right? It is a bit of work (even more, depending on how many pages the guide has), but it should be doable without destroying the book.
I did, but like I said, the spine is glued tight and the margin is inexistant, the first or last letters of every lines is often written in the crack in between two pages. The strategy guide uses the same dimensions and the same formating as the manual. The thing is, the manual's fifty pages are stappled together, so you can easily open it wide open:

The strategy guide however has one hundred pages, so instead of staples, they had to use glue to keep the pages together. The problem is they left the formatting unchanged, and as a result you get this:

(sorry for the sucky cellphone pic quality, but yeah, there are letters deeper in the crack)

Even with your method, you'd still need to force the book wide open at every page so you can photograph the cracks correctly, and not only I doubt you would get very good results, but the strategy guide wouldn't be in top shape afterward.

Yeah, seems like a really bad example of bookbinding :( Sucks.
Recently I went through my old discs and boxes with manuals.
I bought JA in a pack of 10 games with pretty much no manuals included.

JA:DG I bought in a jewel case and box, though I threw the box away back in the day to save space (regretting that now).
I still have the JA:DG jewel case with it's small manual. I also have the JA:DG tactical guide.
Unfortunately I don't have a scanner and though I do have a digital camera, the card reader is in my old broken pc.
Though I doubt it would come out descent that way.
