I have played this one years ago and was pleased to see that it exists on Macs. Got Macbook Pro, game installs but crashes just after launching. Had anybody possible solution to this?

You're not alone. Interested in any solution. Are you getting the black/blue/black screen then it crashes?

Exactly. Blue screen then black and tha's it.

Using the windows installer + playOnMac worked for me. The game still starts with a black screen, but that seems to be a resolution issue; pressing ctrl + command + R took me out of fullscreen and I am now able to boot and play fine.

I just grabbed this game and am having same issue. Can you explain how to do this, I don't have a windos installer I have a Macbook Pro.

You can download the Windows version of Jagged Alliance 2 through the games page on your account. Simply choose WINDOWS as the OS instead of MAC.
I am having the same issue with my MacBook Pro.
But the store page states that intel integrated graphics cards are not supported. So that would be the problem with my 13" with Intel Iris.
I am arriving late to this thread (only bought the game today actually :) ) and the game is working for me on my Mac but thought I would throw out a suggestion or two in case we can find the cause and it can help folks.

First, I would suggest trying different Wineskin settings, especially with screen options. To do so:

- In Finder, find the "Jagged Alliance 2.app" file. (Not in the dmg but already copied into its own folder on the hard drive.) Right click on it and then choose Show Package Contents. A new Finder window should appear.

- Double-click down through the folders there, in order: Contents-Resources-Game. You then should see another "Jagged Alliance 2.app" file. Do the same as in step one above...right-click then Show Package Contents. Again another Finder window should open.

- You should see "Wineskin.app". Double-click that file, and the Wineskin window should pop up. This is where I suggest you try playing with the options, to see if something will get the game working for you. I suggest you start with "Set Screen Options" and see if anything there helps. Try checking the "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" option for example. To test it, click Done and then "Advanced", "Test Run". If it doesn't work, stop and try again with some other option, repeat.

And any different behavior you note during this testing can help narrow down the troubleshooting. :)
@jigglywiggly
Thanks a lot!!
Playing around with Wineskin worked for me on my MacBook pro 13" 2017, Mojave

Marked override and Use Mac Drivers instead of X11

Finally I can play JA2 again.

Thank you for the tips, unfortunatley I still wasn't able to launch the game. I tried these and still nothing. The app opens in my dock (I'm running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.4) but nothing happends. I can't even force quit the app - I have to restart my computer from the power button. I've also added the app to my applications that can control the computer while running... HELP! :)

Weeper_1: Glad to hear it worked, thanks for the note.

Benny_hman:

- First, forget the Mac Driver suggestion (lower right in Wineskin settings, "Other Options") if it causes your system crash, and also under "Override Settings" at the top left, click "Rootless" if not already checked, then underneath, Virtual Desktop at 800x600 and "Force normal windows" if not already checked. Hopefully that should at least still allow you to maintain control of your machine if the test run goes bad again. (At very least you should be able to Force Quit the app instead of having to reboot your machine.) You can return to testing/changing these after you get the thing running/stable, if desired.

- Next, also in "Other Options", de-select "Auto Detect GPU info for Direct3D", and try a Test Run. I suspect this will fix the problem on its own. If not, try disabling "Decorate Windows" also and try again.

If you can't get the wrapper to run, other suggestions would be rather technical and detailed so I'll only mention them as alternate possibilities for now:
- Upgrade the wrapper's engine.
- try a source port like Stracciatella https://ja2-stracciatella.github.io/

Hope something in there helps.
