Hello everybody,

I decided to try Wildfire (despite the game being a larger display which made everything smaller, I got used to it).

I completed Jagged Alliance 2 a few years ago. It was an amazing game albeit very difficult to play, I had to restart the game 3-4 times to get a good start.

I did the same with Wildfire and for once I thought that I was doing alright : I managed to capture all of Cambria and half of Drassen within 6 days.

I use Grizzly Steroid and Blood for boxing fights (which I don't understand... It's like every two days?) it's nice to be over 20.000 once the three matches are won which is no piece of cake on Experienced.

The only thing that bothers me incredibly with this game/mod is the DIFFICULTY. And I know, it was done on purpose, but I cannot find relevant information about Wildfire.

Everyone is talking about 1.13 version that I cannot get anymore as the links don't work on the said website.

So here are my problems for Wildfire and I'd like to find a solution :

1) As soon as I capture a town, the enemy counterattacks like within two days or straightaway. My newborn militia barely repels them or thanks to RNG they do it depends of the save that I reload first. It's really irritating because I can't go capture other sectors without losing others behind my back.

2) The money. If I get that correctly, you need 30% loyalty in towns to get your money from the mines. I got the money from Drassen but not from Cambria. The guy is just 'I'm busy so I won't keep you longer'. And San Mona mine... Well theres no money there, right? I can't even find Kingpin's money in the underground like in Vanilla. Changing the design of the maps is such a bummer.

3) The bloody doors. I thought that playing on realistic (as I had played on Sci Fi the first three playthroughs on that mod) would allow me to shoot the doors open more easily. Which was true until I got to the metal doors. Like bloody hell, you can't access the remaining enemies because they're hiding in their bunkers. Or even worse, you don't get to retrieve the best equipment, like scopes, suppressers and all that, because of that. Thanfully Sidney has amazing marksmanship and can shoot almost any lock, but that's still a stroke of luck when he does.

4) Where the hell are Stephen Rothman and Scope? I didn't check the others missing but at least those who were missing (Cliff, Len and Gus) had an alumni description. But Stephen and Scope? Nothing! It's as if the devs scraped them off the game without giving any explanation whatsoever.

5) Kingpin. I decided to turn my back against him (easy behind the counter and after a few reloads). The loot was great but I realized it wasn't a great idea after his hitmen found me at Drassen airport and killed half my militia. Good loot tho. The thing is : am I gonna meet his hitmen in every town from now on because I killed Kingpin?

6) Helicopter pilot. When I first free Drassen airport, generally in Vanilla, Waldo opens up and say that the pilot is somewhere in the swamps. But here in this game, despite my character having 75 leadership, he keeps being a retard (sorry for using that word but he really pissed me off) and says "wish I can talk, I caaaaaaan't" (terrible American impersonation that I tried to do here). It's as if I need to free the whole town of Drassen and kill Doreen to get him to talk. Such effort. He's not even in C15, I checked.

So do you guys have any advice to give me on this mod? I feel like no one is playing this mod because it's unbalanced or the new mercs are cringe. I'd like to try the new mercs but they're bloody expensive.

Have a good day y'all.

Wildfire is generally not worth bothering with, IMO. It's a buggy and unplayable mess, even if you disregard the insanely dumb and poorly thought-out "balancing" of it. It's essentially just a bastardisation of the classic Jagged Alliance experience.

Well your reply is a little bit direct, but i do agree with you 100% regarding the game being buggy , unplayable, lacking balance and everything else negative we can come up with , applies to this 'game' : i played it once, and never again.
I closed it after 3 minutes and uninstalled it cause it is plain awful.

Anyway Ja2 is the best imho and ja2 UB is okay.
