I probably should post these as two seperate questions but let me try it this way first.

Okay, so I'm having issues if I go after the drug gangs. When/if I do then I can no longer visit Tony in San Mona because all the NPCs attack me, not just Kingpin's guys. Even Hans and Kyle attack me. The first time this happened to me, early in a game, I figured I'd somehow killed a non-combatant in the heat of battle and restored a saved game and played on. Several times I tried hitting the druggies and each time the result was the same so I started just avoiding them, figuring I'll clean them up towards the end of the game when visiting Tony isn't much of a factor any longer.

So, last night I was closing in on the edges of Meduna and found the big house on the NE corner of the suburbs, the one with two tanks guarding it. Since the game said there were soldiers and started combat I stayed with it and wiped them out. As far as I know I did not kill any civilians in taking out the tanks, all the dead had either blue regular uniforms of grey elite uniforms and the civilians in the house ignored me after the battle was over. Then I went to visit San Mona to see if I could get more mortar rounds and Kyle immediately became an enemy as soon as he saw me. WTF did I do to cause that and how do I deal with it? I assume it's because the designers used Kingpin's gang as the drug gang and San Mona is Kingpin's town but I still need Tony a little for some of the more exotic ammo that Ray's doesn't have.

Then there's a question about equipment. Some of my guys have been giving me grief about crap equipment, but they've all got decent stuff. All the armor is Spectra w/Compound 19 and the weapons are pretty good (one has an RPK and two drums and the other a Styer w/two mags (both have laser sights added). (I've not hit Orta yet)

I assume the weapons are what's triggering the complaints but it's difficult to judge what's a great weapon and what's just a good weapon in this version. Normally by this point they'd all have M-14s or FN-FALs in any other JA2 game but in this one the FN-FAL seems mediocre at best and the M-14 is scarcely better. (not to mention no rod & spring add-on or extended barrels) Do I have to get them rocket rifles (which I hate)?
