Just bought and installed via GOG- however the game is running very slowly at the beginning, although the opening cinematics are fine- its just when I Click Start New Game and end up in the starting room, The game will usually crash- has anyone had an experience with this error or could help me solve it?

Running via Dosbox (GOG Default) and on Windows 8, just seems silly I paid money for this and it fails to work hah-

Any help would be awesome :)

Thank you,

Andrew
I have no experience with W8.
Did you happen to install the game in the 'Program files' directory (or whatever it's called in W8)?
If so, move it to another directory.
Thank you for the reply-

I assume W8 can't be the problem as it says on the JA page that WIn8 Supports JA1-

I didn't install it to the program files (x66) file- instead I put it in the following directory-

C:\GOG Games\Jagged Alliance

I can't appear to figure out how to alter the graphic settings via dosbox as per some other posts, where you make the graphics 'surface' etc- I have a feeling changing this may make a difference-

I think I'm just destined not to be able to pay it, shame, what a waste of a few pounds! :(

Sanft: I can't appear to figure out how to alter the graphic settings via dosbox as per some other posts, where you make the graphics 'surface' etc- I have a feeling changing this may make a difference-
2 ways to do this.
1) From the start menu find the "GOG.com\Jagged Alliance\Graphics mode setup" and run it. Unsure how easy that is on Win8
2) Go to the directory you installed the game (C:\GOG Games\Jagged Alliance) and look for the DOSBoxXXX.conf file. Open it with notepad and change the Output=XXX to one of the other options (surface, overlay, opengl, openglnb, ddraw). Not sure of the exact name of the conf file, since I don't have JA1 installed atm. If you can't find it, reply (or send a PM) and I'll install it and look for the proper .conf file.
