So I've been playing the 1.13 version of JA2 and now I am completely hooked on this game again! I never thought I would be as addicted to this game as I was back in '99, but they had to improve on it...

So, now, here I am getting sucked into the gaming experience and losing all track of time...again! :)

I used to play this game so much, I knew exactly where every enemy was going to be and how they would react to my ploys. Now I have enemies sneaking up behind me, or flanking me (which is a lot easier to do with the line of sight changes). And what a surprise it was to be hit from behind while I was sniping from a rooftop - little bugger climbed up on the roof to get me!! Although it is nice to have a machine gunner who can divert the attention of an enemy swarm to give my team member a chance to escape... (LOVING the new full auto feature on these guns!)

So, anyway, now I'm addicted to a game again...I never thought it would ever happen at my age! But I suppose classics never die...but apparently they can be greatly improved upon :P

Thank you PBworks...I think :)
[SARCASM ALERT]

Yeeeeaaaah... 1.13 sucks doesn't it?

With Flugente cranking out entirely new features pretty much on a weekly basis. Really? Somebody slap that fool and tell him to take a damn breather for a couple of weeks! Todays gamers aren't used to seeing devs actually getting shit done fast.

But for me the thing that sucks most is that we'll probably never ever get a new squad based strategy that actually beats this game now.

DAMN YOU ALL, DAMN YOU!!! :(

You are aware that JA:F went into alpha, and so far the pit likes it, right?

Yep, I saw Shangas alpha video.

I don't know much about the game, its looking pretty good so far. Definitely a big step up from BIA + Crossfire, but there are a few things that I saw that I thought were a bit simplified and toned down compared to JA2 1.13 for my liking . For example:
I don't like the X-Com style "quick snap/normal/aimed" aiming compared to JA style aiming
I only had a glance but I think they lumped the Strength, Agility + Dexterity into a single "Physique" stat, the sports coach in me had a knee-jerk "NOOOO" reaction when I noticed that and is something I wouldn't have done. (I would have had each of those three stats affect the costs of every physical action in the game. High Dex = Faster aiming, Very Low Strength = Cant drag injured/unconsious bodies to safety etc - something I've still not seen in a JA game and a fuckton of other stuff)

Other stuff like the weedy pop-gun sounds are clearly temporary Alpha stuff and are being ignored but none of those are exactly bad or deal breakers to me - just things that I feel are a step down and that in the long run I'll still be coming back to JA2 1.13 for my SB-strategy fix :)
