Opps! That title should have been "Can't travel West" - Why can't I get my team to go further west than column 7 ??? (On Jag2 that is.) I want to go to San Mona, but can't.

For some games I can’t travel any further west than column 7. For others I can. I tried re-installing, then uninstalling and installing, then uninstalling deleting and reinstalling. Still have the same problem. I can’t see in the forum when anyone else has experienced this.
Any insight?

Are you sure you are not trying to travel to an innacessible area, like mountains? Does plotting a path to San Mona allow you to move there, or are you unable to plot that path? Did you try moving from the tactical sector instead of the strategic map?
I think there were a few problems with some of the pathfinding, but it was mostly a case of vehicles not being able to travel.

I have been trying from the map. When I do the usual travel thing. (Select a Squad and then roll the curser to the spot that I want to go to) I can’t get my mouse to move the little “walking man” symbol any further west (left) than column 7. It doesn’t matter which line on the Y axis (alphabet) A through P - it just won’t go to any sector numbered 6 or under.
I have not tried from the tactical sector. That’s a good idea. I just don’t understand why it doesn’t always happen. I had one early game (when I didn’t really know what I was doing) where it worked. Since then… no go.
I can plot a path anywhere in columns 7 through 16, but not 1 through 6.

This sounds like a problem with the cursor. For some reason it gets locked in the wrong part of the screen. I would assume that you can also move it much further right than the edge of the screen, though you wouldn't be able to check it.
I'd suggest trying the 800x600 Resolution Mod to see if it fixes it (since it does change the resolution), or using 1.13 and setting the game to a windowed mode (or an increased resolution one). Be aware that 1.13 adds quite a lot of features, so it's not suggested for a first playthrough, and you will be overwhelmed with all the options.

I do think I've seen this problem mentioned before, but can't recall under what circumstances, or if there was a solution.
I tried the resolution patch but it didn’t help. I actually can scroll the cursor over that area of the map, it is only when I select a Squad and it turns into the “walking man” that it won’t go left of column 7.
However, your suggestion of traveling from the tactical screen does work. [THANK YOU very much!] It is a bit slower (waiting for them to walk across the landscape) but it works. Still, it would be nice to find a way to resolve that.

Take a look here. Seems to be caused by the DPI of the monitor. Hope this does manage to solve your problem :)
Yep. That did it. I had the screen set for LARGE font so these poor old (closing in on 62 years) eyes could read everything without being 3 inches away from the monitor. When I changed it to small…(whoa! Where’d everything go?) The game started to work the way it is supposed to. (I guess you never know where those lines of code are directed, huh?)
I can’t guess how many sites you waded through to find that. (I looked here and on three others.) The time and effort you put forth was above and beyond the call of duty and is GREATLY appreciated.

Possibly one. ;) The Bear's Pit is probably the definitive place for JA games.

I knew I had encountered that bug before, but it was actually DepressivesBrot who directed me to that thread. So he deserves some the thanks a bit more than me I'd say.
Enjoy the game, and be sure to check 1.13 when you have the chance.
