So controller support in Jade Empire. How does it feel compared to an actual console version of the game?

I own the Steam version and it just felt awful. It is as if they optimized the game for mouse/keyboard (which is fine when I play at my desk), then added "controller support" by doing some crappy keymappings using xpadder. It didn't feel smooth at all. I ended up giving up on the game, since I bought it with the intentions of playing on my Steambox in the living room.

So has GoG done a better job at implementing real controller support with this game? I've been dying to play it, and missed it on its original Xbox release in 2005.

I doubt GOG changed anything to controller support. They only get involved in coding to make a game run on modern machines and that's not the case here. It's the official PC version as shipped by the developer. I played the game with a controller (DirectInput) but as always, I mapped the keys to my liking. Had no problems afterwards, felt smooth, but on the other hand I never played the Xbox version.

The only problem with controller support that I had was kind of a delay when dodging. I had to really emphasize the movement on the pad.
