Just installed the game, started for the first time, saw the videos and then - stuck. I tried fullscreen and windowed mode, moved to the other screen, rebooted, exited multiple times, but I can never click on the start button. I can click on tutorial and save mode and this works, also options and credits. When I close the window and click on start, I see a menu with probably save games slots, where again nothing happens when I click.

I've got the same problem. I press the buttons but nothing happens.

Also there is something wrong with tooltips.

Same here. iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), macOS Mojave 10.14.6

Fixed by giving permission to full disk.
