Hi I'm new to the game and I'm enjoying it so far, but the number of ‘alien leaders’ is really bothering me.

Early in my 1st game as Humans 6 out of 7 leaders thus far are of an alien race. I don't mind an occasional leader of different race showing up but I'd think most leaders should be of the player faction. I expected to see 5 of 7 human.

Hi, I'm an old timer with this game and I can share this with you.
The Humans have the largest number of leaders in this game, roughly 25% overall. However, most are ship leaders, not colony leaders. I understand and agree that it kind of breaks immersion when so many aliens show up, especially if you haven't made formal contact yet. It's been brought up in the past but this part of the game is random, meaning you got very un-lucky.
Between the Humans, the generic Android, and Humanoid Nova, it is quite possible to play a game while not hiring other aliens, I do it a lot. (Though I'm more liberal with the colony governors, much less so with the ship leaders, hire Pike and you will understand part of the reason why)

I will learn to deal with it now knowing it was bad luck.After posting here I noticed a similar post on the Developers forum where they explained their reasoning 'they are mercenaries' but added they might look into it in the future. (MOO ,Astra Exodus, Age of Wonders 3 seem to do the same.)
