Quick question... have upgraded to Windows 8, was curious how I'76 runs? I had all sorts of problems with Win 7 64 bit and was never satisfied with performance using the workarounds and finally gave up and just played it on my old Acer netbook with XP and it worked great.

I noticed the store page says it is Windows 8 compatible (still doesn't say 7) so wondered if it was worth another shot. Thanks for any information or tips. I'm playing on an Asus G73 with an ATI 5870m if that matters.

Thanks!

Still the same problems. Win 7 & 8 are pretty similar. I have my desktop on 7 and laptop on 8. Both won't run in glide (one has ATI the other has nvidia) and software mode runs ok but wobbly wheels prevent advancing past level 2. And the cpugrabber doesn't work either. Go find yourself an old WinXP install, I think that has better chances of working
Same issue.

Seriously GOG disappointed me on this one. It's in the catalog for a while, marked as win7 compatible and they don't bother.
I apologize, cpugrabber really works.

You should start testing with 95%, if it lags, lower it by 5% until it works correctly. I didn't test it enough and tried other softwares which just made the game lag and didn't fix the glitch, only cpugrabber makes the game work correctly.

However, for the glide version: i tried many glide wrappers and found no solution. (dgvoodoo crashes with no error)

With nglide i have a specific error message, the nglide programmer says it's a problem with directdraw:

There's a very promising project called DXGL. It wraps DirectDraw to OpenGL, but it's not compatible with I76 yet, so the only solution for you and for now is to install Windows XP.

:(

Any fund raising for DXGL? :P

the dev is still ongoing but slow (unsurprisingly since it seems to be a 1 man project): http://www.williamfeely.info/wiki/Special:Code/DXGL
