This refers to whatever version the Gog.com installer for Interstate '82 v2.0.0.8 installs.

My friend asked me to help him because he wanted to try Interstate '82 but he was unable to make it work. He doesn't know much english so he's not prone to ask stuff here. In any case, quick research didn't help us, just that I82 crashes in a lot of systems. In his system, the problem was entering a game, we tried Training Tape 1, and we got loadsof small message windows saying control Keyboard Numpad 8 (and many more) didn't exist.

Let me assure you we double-checked the keyboard and it had Numpad 8, Z and all other keys mentioned.

Once that is clear, we only needed to redefine all the keys. Apparently the default keys have english names, while our spanish system wanted them in spanish names, such as Teclado Numérico 8. I can imagine that this not only causes problems until you redefine the keys; in some systems the thingystuff handling the input (DirectInput I guess) could be the culprit for crashing at game start when fed with wrongly named, unexistent keys.

So, if your Interstate '82 on your non-english OS has this 'input doesn't exist' problem, you only need to redefine the keys. Easy, probably you tried yourself already. But if you're getting crashes, it's something to check for, as you couldn't think that redefining the keys could save you from crashes when launching a new game. (I don't say this will cure your crashes, just that it could. Worth a try before more hair pulling.)

I just thought of sharing to help a few more unexperienced gamers from headaches.

Good luck!
Works perfectly, thank you!
