Hey all,
When the car accelerates, it seems to be very bumpy. The car will bounce up and down far more than it should. I don't remember this happening when I played the game years ago, and the Youtube videos I tried to check don't really ever use the in car camera.
I've tried using all three graphic modes (software, D3D, and Glide) and nothing changes. Is anyone else having this problem?
This may just be how the game is and I'm forgetting it, but like I said earlier, it just seems far more bumpy than usual while I'm driving, no matter the surface. It's most notable in the rear view mirror... it's as if my car has hydraulics going at all times.
I've got Vista Home SP2 - I'm also running as admin, and tried compatibility mode as well.
Thanks in advance!
The game was always like this. It was the 70's, when cars had worn leaf springs and apparently broken shocks..
On my main pc, a 3ghz core 2 duo with Nvidia 260mGTX running Windows 7 64 bit, the game does play really bouncy like you describe, and was not how it originally was... it was bouncy a bit, but no where near this bad.
But, I just installed it on my netbook, with XP, an Atom, and Intel 950 graphics, and it runs like a champ, absolutely perfect in GLIDE mode. Some minor bumps, but nowhere near as extreme as on my main pc.
So, somewhere in between lies the solution!

Yep, this describes the problem much better than I could.
It's extremely tough to aim, because the cursor is just bouncing up and down wildly - I have found some Youtube videos of the game, and while there is a little bounce, it's nothing like what I'm experiencing here.

Have you tried forcing vsync for either Glide or D3D mode in your video control panel? That seems to have helped mine a bit, and is much more enjoyable... keeps the framerate from running ridiculously fast. Also has reduced whobbly wheels quite a bit for me as well.
I'm also struggling with this issue.
Oh you're referring to the issue where the cars actually seem to jump into the air sometimes. This goes along with the wobbly wheel problem and can be fixed by slowing you computer down somehow (I use cpugrab.exe, see the other threads here that discuss it).
I originally thought you were referring to the fact that hitting the gas or breaks results in a violent dipping or lurching of the car from the cockpit view (at least with the unmodified car you get in the beginning anyways)
