Inquisitor is a buggy game, I can live with that. It crashes fairly often, but doesn't take long to reload.

Until today, Act III, 57 hours in and the game crashes. When I come to reload it, none of my last 3 saves will load. Please, PLEASE somebody say there's a way to recover corrupt savegames. I do have a couple of other savegames that do load, but they're from waaaay back. If I can't get the others to work, then I think I've had it with this game. Life's too short to play through the whole thing again.

Thanks!

The only reason for a save to break, that I know of, is if you save your game when there are red squares visible on the screen - a sign that an untreated memory leak occured and the game is slowly falling apart. Could it be this is what happened to you? If so, I'm afraid there is nothing to be done and those saves are gone. Unfortunately, there is no one left to fix this issue and the only solution is to quit the game without saving as soon as a red square appears in your UI. This happens once a playthrough for some, once a day for others and I don't know what causes it.
Okay, thanks Kovi. I didn't see any red squares, but I did notice some black rectangles overlaying character sprites before it crashed. Looks like I may have to give up on it.
Tabbing out of the game has caused corrupt saves for me before

always always always have numerous saves after crucial points!

I try to have 4+ saves 1+hr apart each as I progress, and then I keep multiple "archived" points as I go along (after major quests / developments)

Black squares should be something different. They were quite often when the game was originally released in 2009 but practically disappeared with subsequent video card drivers updates. If you suffer from them, maybe a video card driver update could help you get rid of them.
