Hello fellow GOGers,
I have just bought IW, and it looks great. I'm having troubles with the mouse though, it only seems to want to move around in the top left corner of the screen. How weird! This means I cannot create a new captain as that option is in the lower half of the screen.
Any ideas? I have no joystick plugged in or anything like that, just a PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Specs are:
AMD Phenom 9950 CPU
Asus M2NSLI Motherboard
6Gb 800MHz DDRII RAM
GeForce 9800GT PCI-E Graphics
Widescreen Monitor (1440x900)
Windows XP x64 Professional
Thanks in advance!

In Windows 7 you can set the game's shortcut to run the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2 which fixes the problem. Try some of the XP compatibility settings.
Changing the IW.exe to XP compatibility seems to have fixed it. Many thanks!
I don't see any XP SP2 compatibility setting in shortcut properties. I have WinXP. Instead I chose Win 98 / Win ME mode. Works fine.

If your OS is WinXP then of course it won't have XP compatibility because IT IS XP!
Compatibility modes are there to try and run the app as if it were in a previous OS version.
On Windows Vista (Home Premium) Win2000 mode made the mouse work, neither XP or Win98/ME did. However, Alt+tabbing "locked" the mouse to move one direction only.
Just thought i'd add this.
Got a similar problem with IW 2, only here it is the lower right part of the screen. Only in-game, not the menu. None of the compatibility settings work. OS: XP SP3.
Any suggestions?
edit: I will make this a new question..

Not Solved for me.......
I tried it all ... ( i have XP sp3 ) but nothing works.
In the menu there`s no prob. what so ever but as soon as i go ingame or leave a hangar .. my mouse stops working .... i cant look around or fire or do anything u need a mouse for.
PLZ help
Make sure you actually set the program's .exe to compatibility mode, NOT just the shortcut (the thing you click on to start the program normally). Find where it's installed - on Windows 7, you should be able to right click the shortcut and select "open file location". Then right click on iwar.exe and set compatibility to Windows 98.
I was running IW in Win XP SP3 and had the same issue of the mouse only moving in the top left corner.
The problem went away after I right clicked on the short cut, selected properties and compatibility, and clicked the 'Run in 640 x 480' screen resolution.
The mouse then moved around the screen fine and I think IW doesn't do much more than 640x480.
Hope that helps

I had the same issue as described in XP as well and this one solved it for me. Thanks for the tip! Anyone else that stumbles across this running XP, try doing this first before messing around with compatability mode as one of the other operating systems, it's much simpler.
I'm using Windows XP SP3 as well and, of course, experiencing the same mouse issues. If I set the .EXE to 640x480 by changing its preferences I am able to use the mouse normally; however, if I fail a mission (and maybe if I completed one, I haven't pulled that off yet) I have to hit Shift-Q to continue, and after that my mouse is stuck back in the upper left corner.

Exiting and restarting the game seems to solve this but I really don't want to exit the entire game after every mission. I've tried setting the compatibility mode to Windows 98 and 2000 as well, made no difference. Anyone have any ideas on this?
I am using XP (SP2) compat mode on win 7 x64 and mouse does not work at all ingame, only in the menu,

I had to use Dgvoodoo2 wrapper to get the game to start at all as all other fixes did not work and all I got was:

"Loader.exe has stopped working"

Is DgVoodoo2 wrapper preventing the mouse from working at all ingame, only in the menu does my mouse do anything

I am using nGlide as a Glide wrapper, maybe you could try this one out and Report back if it works better.
