The game screen considerably exceeds the size of the monitor- even on higher resolutions . Makes the game pretty much unplayable as much of the text/options etc. cannot be seen. I am using Windows 7. There appears no option- that I can see-to change this!
same problem

I changed my screen to 1920*1080 on windows, and it seems, it solved the problem.

OK, that worked- Thanks!
Although, I do wish there was another solution!

edit:

OOhh, I did find a solution , another poster, ZedSupremus, posted:

"open up ig2.settings with your favorite etext editor,. remove the // from before the settings you want to adjust "
I set these to my monitor size 1024 by 768- works like a charm!!!

Don't know why all the settings have been removed, you could change a lot of the settings ingame in the orginal version.

Probably because this is a lazy PC port of the mobile port, not an update of the original game. Hence, everything that was removed for the mobile version is lacking in this version too. At least, that's my theory based on the complaints people have.

That's what I was thinking..

I was predicting they would do that in another thread earlier, I got the android version, it is really not good..
I am 46 years old today, and I played this years ago, the android version lacks alot.

the PC version should be about 3.6 GB, but this is less than 600 MB.

I was really hoping for the original game, the good old game, not the shitty new port of that good old game.

it says it has multiplayer, which was missing on the android version, I was hoping that that would be the sign I was hoping for but still, 3 GB of data missing.. dunno..

I guess I gotta hold off and read more, doesn't look like what I was looking for..
but instead what I expected..

Ah, no, you can't base anything off the data size. This release uses .ogg for the sound and .mp4 for the video, both of which take up considerably less space than the original data would have.

Besides, in the original game, you had to have the disc of the race you were playing in the drive. This means that, in all probability, a lot of the data on each disc was actually the same. This was a common tactic at the time.

So based on the fact that this only takes up 600 MB, you cannot draw the conclusion that it has less content than the original.

I just tried it for myself, and I don't have any issues other than the keyboard not working for changing the game speed (which admittedly is quite a large issue). All in all, it seems like the same game it was back then, only with a higher resolution. The user interface still has the same steep learning curve as it did back in the day though. I need to figure out how to do everything again, but I'm sure it'll come back to me quickly.

well, that's something I hadn't considered.
I really dislike the android version personally.

Is multiplayer actually accessible so you can create random games with any race?
they ruined the android version by removing that, as if the control (translation) problems weren't bad enough.

Don't know. There is a multiplayer menu point, but I haven't tried it. I don't have any interest in multiplayer myself.

you never play vs. the ai outside of the campaigns?
if so..

you will want to look into multiplayer for single player games.

once you play a campaign and see how it works, try it, there used to be like 8 races you could play if I remember right, but you have to start the single player game under multiplayer and set your opponents and number thereof in options.

so by doing so you go from having 50+ hours of game in the campaigns to an unlimited amount in single-multiplayer.

well, you got me wishing and I tried it, but I got the no mouse pointer issue, so i haven't made it to the keyboard problem yet.

:(

Yes, I have played the AI, but I don't classify that as multiplayer. It was also more than 10 years ago, so I didn't remember that that option was in the multiplayer menu.
You may edit values manually, activating them by deleting "//" simbols in the chosen string. Just open the "ig2.settings" file using your text editor (xmpl: wordpad etc) .

XMPL:

//width=1366 --> width=1366
//height=768 --> height=768

That option helped me. I've got normally fitted resolution. :)
