This is an excellent game (Imperialism II) but I have a couple of questions.

1) How does the Spy work? When I put one into a foreign country, major, minor or tribe, it just sits there. When I click on the Spy it says 'gathering information, ready in one turn'. But it says that turn after turn. How do I access the information the Spy gathers. Am I going this wrong?

2) The manual says that if you buy land in a Tribes capitol province no Major Power can then attack any of that Tribe's provinces without declaring war on you. But I have bought land from a tribe and then had major power's attack the tribe without declaring war on me.

Thanks for any help

For spying, look on the tech menu. Look at the research that other countries have but you do not. If your spy is working, a little "S" will show under the flag of the country you're spying on.

It's not true that buying land in a tribe's capital province prevents that tribe from being attacked altogether. Buying land prevents an attack in the province in which the land was bought. You should buy in the capital province first though, to prevent the tribe from being driven into anarchy.

Oh, I see. I had thought that the Spy would enable you to find out the size and location of other Nations armies, the amount of wealth and resources they have ect.

Good, it makes sense about having to buy land in a Tribe's specific province.

Thanks for the help!

It's true for the army sizes - you get an info without a spy, too...but it is more inaccurate. If you click on foreign army tents, then pay attention to who provides you the report - if it is the governor of an adjacent province, the information is vague; if the pop-up says that the info comes from the spy inside the province, it is accurate.

Oh, yeah, that's obviously what you were asking now that I read it again :) Sometimes it can be hard to get the scouting information if you put the spy directly on the city, when the question mark is in blue you'll talk to your spy, but when the question mark is red you'll read the spy's scouting report.
