Just like the title says, me and my friend can see each other on Imperialism 1 when I or he hosts. We can ping each other on Hamachi with proper reply.

Me and him took down our firewall and tried to join each other but that didn't work either.

The only thing left that I can think of is opening some ports for Imperialism 1 but I don't know which ones to open. Anyone know what ports I should open? We can play other older titles perfectly once I open ports in my router so I think that might be the problem.

Edit:Found out that Port 14591 was one of the ports to open but it didn't work either.

Edit 2: This is what I can select when trying to play Multiplayer, is there something wrong with my game?

Thanks in advance!

out of the readme file (translated from German ;) )

You have to use port 14591, but I guess that is what you referred too?

As you are emulating local network, did you also set the same netmask?

255.255.255.0 ?

Yeah, I forwarded the 14591 on my router, I set it to both TCP and UDP just incase.

We're using hamachi and we have the same netmask as each other.

And your friend is using the IP address of your hamachi setting?

Edit, both of you are using Windows?

Yep! We have played other old games, like right now we're playing Neverwinter Nights 2 and I'm hosting on Hamachi. No issues what so ever. We're both using Windows yes. It's so weird

Maybe, just maybe some thoughts:

Is it IP4 or IP6 address?
Maybe the IP address being used is not being liked?
Maybe the router address and the IP-address and the subnet do not work together? (meaning all three of you shall be on the same subnet)

It's IP4 I think. Hmm, it's weird how other games work when I host but this game won't budge. I mean, Hearts of Iron 3, Neverwinter Nights 2, Factorio and tons of other games. Heck I got Empyrion to work by allowing a simple port when I hosted a survival game.

No idea if the router, ip and subnet doesn't work together. How do I check that?

Hi there, I've been trying to get multiplayer working for either imperialism 1 or 2 (1 preferably) and i'm curious if anyone is still around to offer some advice on this. I haven't had any luck at all.

I have two computers at home and want to play with my brother when he comes to visit. I'm not sure what the best way to make this happen is.

I'd also like to be able to play multiplayer remotely with him when he's at his home and i'm at mine. I tried Hamachi and that part seems to work fine, but we can't connect to each other in game.

Thanks,
Same problem here. Anyone in 2021 is able to play imp1 multiplayer and if so how do you manage to do it?
this could help, though i do not know for sure but, it is likely. turn off ip version 6 from the settings for your network connection. no games that i know of supports ip version 6. older games does not even know that there is 2 ip versions and messes up. you have to force the game to use ip version 4 by turning off version 6.
