This is kind of a multi-faceted question, albeit some of these questions might be related:

1. Why do linux updates take several days after a game update was released?

2. Since I'm not that familiar with gog's updating process: Is that normal/regular behaviour? Who's at fault here, Paradox or gog?

3. Why are there no incremental updates ("patches") for the linux version of the game? Downloading the whole game again and again is really tedious and somewhat unnecessary...

4. From the Windows version I've noticed that patches get released quickly but an updated base game takes a bit longer (though not as long as an updated Linux version) - so could that be part of the problem? Have the nice gog people simply not figured out how to do incremental updates on LInux and that's why the whole game needs to be rebuilt and distributed again?

I'm not saying that this is completely unacceptable as - after some time - the updates do make it to the public, but I do wonder what causes the delay and why there are no incremental updates for Linux systems... the latter is especially problematic for people with slow internet connections or connections with volume limits.

I agree with you.I'm also extremely disappointed about that.I don't think it's Paradox fault because the Linux version is updated on par with windows on the Steam and Paradox launcher version.I hope the updates will be more rapid thereafter.

Well, I kind of see that - on the other hand the game versions are probably different in some regards (I'm thinking about the gog installer, runtime libs or other such things) and I'm guessing that creating a gog installer requires some extra steps. What I don't know is, who has to do these extra steps - the publisher or the distributor, or how streamlined the whole process is - maybe manual intervention is required, which could be quite time consuming.

I might be just very ignorant about how digital game distribution is done in general, but some sort of explanation on this matter would be really helpful to... how should I put this... calm me down ^_^

If i'm not mistaken, the installer is packaged by GOG staff and the game editors simply store the required files to create the installer. But i'm not sure.I also hope for a response from GOG or Paradox about that.
