It´s the same to me, all support tips from GOG didn´t fix the problem. The game doesn´t start, nothing happens...

Same issue. No option to run as admin.

Not work, no started anything.

To run as admin, make a shortcut of the exe file on your desktop. Then right click and go to properties. There should be an option in one of the tabs to "run as admin".
if you havne't tried this.

Or hold SHIFT+right click the icon and select Run As Admin

I have same problem.

This worked for me on Windows 11:

1. Go to C:\GOG Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946
2. open il2set.exe
3. on the "Driver" Tab chose "Windowed" (not "Full Screen"). I also disabled "Intro", but not sure if this is necesary.
4. Close with "OK"
5. Run "il2fb", it will open in windowed mode
6. Change to "Full Screen" in the game settings

Il-2 should start normally now, not even "Run as Admin" is necessary.

Works perfectly.

What you can try for Windows 11. This should cover many potential issues:

1. execute il2set.exe
Set Provider to OpenGL or DirectX. (In my case both worked)

You can also change between OpenGL and DirectX by editing the .ini file under this option:

[GLPROVIDER]
GL=dx8wrap.dll

Open GL=Opengl32.dll
DirectX=dx8wrap.dll

2. Open config.ini files inside game folder and set resolution to match your desktop, which in my case is 1920x1080, and window mode
[window]
width=1920
height=1080
FullScreen=0

Optional, but recommended:
[game]
Intro=0

Note: Don't execute il2set.exe again after this, as it will revert the resolution changes in the config.ini file.

3. Right click in the il2fb.exe file > properties > compatbility
Change configurations to all users (option at the bottom of the window)
Run program in compatibility mode = Windows 7
Disable full screen optimization = check
Run program as administrator = check

3.1 Click on high DPi setting configuration
At the bottom of the new window, set the DPI scale to use the one from the App (don't forget to check the box)

Hit ok to confirm, ok again to close the previous window, and ok again to close the properties window.

When you run the game, never even think of opening the Setup > Video Modes option, as it can mess up all your work.
Also, you don't need it after this point.

Final Note #1: Many people, like me, use scaling in Windows to make it readable. I my case I'm running the system with 125% scaling, but this can cause issues with old games. Step 3.1 solves this.

Final Note #2: I didn't have to change anything in DEP, since mine is setup for essential windows programs and services only.
