Coelocanth: Why the hair-splitting? Other than the +1 DEX bonus on Kaylessa's chain, it functions almost identically to the Elven Chainmail of the Hand, which is elven chain. Besides, Kaylessa's an Elf, so it's not too much of a stretch to conclude her chain is elven chain. As far as the game mechanics are concerned it makes no difference.
Because it's not Elven, that's why. Item Description: Chainmail Armour.

Kaylessa herself does not wear Elven Chainmail, nor even the chainmail that you get from her drop. She actually wears Splintmail. A unique set, but splintmail all the same. Just because she's an elf does not make her armour of elven make.

I understand that. All I'm saying is this: is it worth getting pedantic about it when in-game the two sets of armor are almost functionally identical? Whether Kaylessa's armor is actually Elven Chain or not makes absolutely no difference. It functions as if it were, so what's the big deal?

Anyway, I've wasted enough time on this point.

Stating a fact that corrects an error is not being pedantic. It is simply stating a fact.
*picks up two wonderfully spliced pieces of hair*

Whatever it's actually called, I put it on the fighter/mage and he can cast spells in it, and that's the main thing. They can call it horsedung armour as long as it functions like elven chainmail =)

Guess they put in these random drops here and there so later playthroughs could offer something different, which is fine really - but I honestly don't get what that sucky ring is about. The three other items are pretty decent, all are likely upgrades on whatever somebody are wearing, but that ring...? Yuck. Do anybody actually use rangers for backstabs? Sure, you could, but I certainly prefer to have them in proper armour and hailing death from behind with a bow.
Back from the Hand, and still can't see anything of particular fancy. But I do have a question about some arrows. Is there any difference between the Arrows of the Hand and 'normal' +2 Arrows? They look exactly the same to me, from description, but the Hand arrows go for a bit more.

Functionally identical.
