SOLVED

As with many other people, I've had the issue where OpenAL32.dll or something similar was missing.
I perused through the internet and found that maybe i had to install it in general.
So I got the file from the OpenAL site, but now whenever I try to execute it, it does nothing.

Btw, the name of the file is oalinst.exe, around 790kb from 2014.
I double click it, allow it to run, the loading hourglass shows up for like 5 seconds, then nothing.
I've tried running it as admin as well.

For what it's worth I am trying to play IWD:EE through Galaxy. And yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times.

I figured it out. There is another version of an OpenAL installer that worked for me and possibly will work more readily for newer pcs.
The Beamdog support site here, has the download for "OpenAL_Soft.exe" which is what worked for me.

I'm going to leave the original post up in case anyone encounters the same problem.
Turns out this is an issue with all the EE titles I have installed on my PC. This allowed both IWD and PST to actually run. Very frustrating that this appeared to be contrary to the advice on the support site, given it says "high-end sound card", something I do not have.

Thanks for the fix, I've already notified beamdog support about it
