I have just realised I made a terrible mistake with one of my characters and I'm many hours into the game. I remember being able to edit the savegame files on Windows way back and I am wondering what I need to do to do the same on Linux.

You can use Dale Keeper (classic edition)or EE Keeper (enhanced edition) with WINE.
