What is max level cap with all the expansions installed? Is it the same as Baldurs gate tales of the sword coast. Thanks

That's a somewhat complicated subject as there are both level caps and XP caps, and they're not the same thing. However I found some tables I think explain it very clearly.

XP & level cap table for BG: TOSTC

Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter level and xp cap table

Trials of the Luremaster removed the level cap for dual-class (don't confuse with multiclass) characters so supposedly 29/30 is *possible*, somehow. Yikes.

On a side note, there's a mod available that increases the level cap to 40. Haven't tried it myself but it can be found here if anyone is interested;

http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD/index_mods.php
The level cap for IWD with expansions installed is 30, it applies to single, dual, and multiclass (so fighter30/mage30/cleric30 is possible).
If you play a normal difficulty game with 6 party members your party members will have about 2,500,000 XP each when the game is over, so you won't even get close to it.
Those high levels are for special challenges like HoF mode.

I don't recommend installing the level 40 mod, it changes the rules at lower levels too.

Wow. That would require *a lot* of patience.
EDIT: but the same does not hold for multi class? Weird.

As an aside, you can remove the level cap entirely with a simple Override file.

From the Sorcerer's Place

All it really does is set the xp cap to -1. That disables the cap entirely. Although I'm not sure what a challenge level 99 would pose even in HoF mode. >.>

Don't do this. The abilities for those level 31+ are undefined which will lead to strange results. Avoid the level 40 mod too, it's made for IWD without HoW.
So I guess I should just get to level 30 and be happy with it? There's no good system for leveling beyond it? Or maybe install the level 40 mod only after I get to level 30?
You won't reach level 30 in a normal game anyway and even if you solo or play HoF mode there's no need to go beyond that.

I was close to lvl 26 finishing the game with the first expansion and the last difficulty , so maybe the third expansion could let me get the final lvel, but honestly the game become very bad once I passed the lvl 20 , there is no more sense or balance (or at leats I didn't see the logic) .

The game is balanced for playing at normal difficulty. At the hardest normal difficulty you also get double XP, allowing you to level up faster and making the game even easier on the long run. It's rather something for players wanting to build high level characters.
