In previous Baldur-type games, when I hovered the mouse over a hostile creature, it would switch to a sword so you knew "clicking here will initiate an attack".

I'm starting Icewind Dale 2 for the first time, and this particular behavior isn't happening. If I click the ATTACK button first, THEN the mouse switches to a sword... and if I click a hostile creature with the "regular" mouse cursor, my party attacks just as expected... but I'm still really wishing for the visual confirmation before I click.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal for Icewind Dale 2, or if I'm experiencing a glitch?

In case it helps: I've installed the Widescreen fix, the widescreen UI fix, the "tweaks" mod, the "ease of use" mod, and the "bonus merchants" mod.

I really would appreciate at least knowing if the mouse not changing over an enemy is normal, or not.

Thanks!

In IWD2 if you click once on your weapon in the quick bar it becomes a greyed out sword cursor. If you hover it over a creature (hostile or not, and before taking any other cursor action) it become an 'active' (not greyed) sword. That is your attack confirmation.
Well, that kinda sucks. I hate having to make an extra click for "attack"; previous Baldurish games understood that if a monster is already hostile, and you're hovering the mouse over it, gee, you probably plan to attack.

I'll probably have to map a convenient key (other than F2) to "attack" or something...

Thanks for the quick response!

Anyone else have any thoughts? (I don't suppose there's a mouse-pointer mod out there somewhere...?)
