When launching game, with or without gog galaxy, game kicks out an error message. IDMain.exe application error. The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000022). Click ok to close application.

I get the same message when launching BG 1&2 (although it is bgmain.exe), Icewind dale 1 & 2 as well as Neverwinter nights diamond edition.

Launching with or without gog galaxy generates an error,

Please don't dual post the same message. See my reply to you in the Baldur's Gate sub-forum.

That's fine....whatever. Not trying to be a jerk, but I posted in the 2 forums because TWO DIFFERENT games had an issue. Yes, the issue was the same, but that didn't mean that the fix for one game would work for the other. Regardless, I will single post next time and hope that the fix for one game will work for an unrelated game.

It wasn't a game issue, it was a Windows issue. Posting the same question in two different forums is a recipe for confusion on both sides.

In all fairness the OP wasn't to know this which was why they asked in the two forums. The point they make is a valid one about not knowing if a fix for one game will be a fix for the other.

Also it may be a help in the future if someone else has this problem with IWD as they wouldn't know to look in the BG forum for the solution.

That's a fair point, but in which case it should have been posted once in the general forum.

For those like me who came here looking for a solution and found a debate, here is the link to the fix mentioned in the above referred "Baldur's Gate sub-forum" :

https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/game_doesnt_launch_and_generates_error/post3

Even though these games aren't sold by GOG any longer (only EE versions that I see), STILL forums have support! What an awesome community, my thanks to you all.
