Is it possible to add custom voice files for the enhanced version of the game(Icewind Dale). It seems it uses a different file format in some ways and I'm just not sure how to go about it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, warioman91.

Mods for the original IWD are not compatible with the EE. There will need to be new mods created or existing mods updated to add EE compatibility. A quick search is showing nothing yet, but the game is new, so there may still be some time needed for compilation and testing before the mods are updated.

Create new? Is IWD:EE sold with mods tools?

No.

As Hickory said, no modding tools are included with any of the Infinity Engine games - original or EE. Modders have created tools that help them determine which files hold the scripts and other content in the game (Infinity Engine Explorer is one such tool) and then they have to create new assets and scripts to insert into the existing game. This is something of high-level guess work on my part, being somewhat familiar with programming. One of the active modders can describe it in far more detail than I can. =)

Hey :)

I've gotten the custom sound sets working with my GOG.com version of Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition.

There's a program you can get here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/38319/mods-awesome-soundsets-mods-master-thread-custom-soundsets-for-bgee-bg2ee-and-iwdee

It adds the sets to the game if you follow the instructions. This is so much easier than editing the files with dltcep or something.

The last link inside the post is the mod shell which you use to add your own sounds.

You can use the original sound sets I think but will need a .tra file that contains the script/subtitles plus you have to edit their names and move things round a bit. Just copy the blank.tra provided and edit the copy with a text editor.

I've somehow managed to have it working with at least the example it comes with, Ajantis, so if you have anymore questions just ask :)
