I plan to create 4 men party and I need a rogue. I don't want him to be useless (mostly to handle traps and locks), so I think about making him (or her) support caster, either transmuter or demarch of Mask. Furthermore, I plan to take 3 levels of monk (ideally, rogue (2) monk (3) and rest is wizard or priest).
Stats:
10 STR
max DEX
12-14 CON
16 INT
as much, as possible WIS (later concentrate on WIS)
dump CHA

Which race would be the best? I think about either tiefling (although I'm not sure about exp penalty due to favourite class), moon elf, drow (probably not due to level adjustment) or base human. Thoughts?

EDIT: other party members include sorcerer, priest of Ilmater and barbarian.

There aren't as many traps in IWD2 as there is in BG/BG2. Regardless, find traps can still be handy. There are traps on the bridges at the Horde fortress, and they can easily wipe a party of lowbies.

Rogues are dex based characters, so I'd say go with elf.
In the meantime I tried max INT, DEX and WIS (and 10 CON for the fun) Tiefling, who will be multiclassed to transmuter. With four folks in team levels come quite fast anyway. Locks are the most annoying for me, otherwise I wouldn't bother with rogue.
