I'm getting a new PC soon and I'd like to transfer my saves. To do this, I'm trying to find the save game location , but almost every guide talks about the Steam version.

I know someone else asked this same question a while back (for the GOG version) and I tried to use the information in that thread to help me.

I looked in the directories specified (e.g. AppData) and did a system-wide search for specific files (e.g. Mask.nfo), but nothing came up.

As far as my machine is concerned, Hotline Miami exists only in two places:
1. C:\GOG Games\Hotline Miami
2. C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami

Unfortunately, none of the save files exist in either directory. For reference, I'm using Windows 7 Professional SP1 and I have "hidden files" unchecked, so every file should be easily viewable.

Can someone please help me here? I really don't want to start this game over from the beginning. Thanks! :)

I have a config file, debug text, and SaveData in Documents\My Games\ HotlineMiami on Vista. The sav file is the only one I think, looking at the older discussions it seems you needed several files before (mask.nfo, etc.).
Seems to me that the file named "SaveData" hold everything you need

I tried to remove that file from C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami folder and all my accomplishment vanished, mask and level unlocked alike

When restored to it's rightful place everything returned

However it seems the game "remember" if you have a save file already in use or not, so i would recommend to start a new game in your new computer first, then replace the save file immediately after the game make one

This should allow the game to "know" a save file is there, and the information within the file should give you back everything
