Just an FYI:

The adventures of Hostile Waters: Anteus Rising and Windows 10

I decided to have another play-through of this incredible game, and discovered it performed horrendously on this new windows 10 beast. It was especially evident during tutorial text and post mission briefing text, but even when little text was involved, the performance would deteriorate throughout playing.

After a lot of faffing around with different resolutions and compatibility settings all to no avail, I just disabled the entire compatibility thing altogether, except 'Run as administrator'. Ran smooth as silk. Tried the highest 4:3 resolution I could use (1920 x 1440), ended up with only a quarter of the screen showing. Fixed that by checking the 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' option.

TLDR:

If it runs like crap in Windows 10, try the compatibility settings shown in the attachment.

Another FYI:
-It doesn´t even start in 3840x2160. 2048x1536 runs just fine.
-It´s a DirectDrawGame. You might have to enable DirectDraw in your WindowsControlPanel under LegacyComponents.
-You can force Supersampleantialiasing with NvidiaProfileInspector. 32xS+8xSGSSAA, resulting in 32times Supersampling, around 100 Megapixels, can be handled by a GTX 1080 with ease. Maybe an AMDuser could look into it as well. Text sadly isn´t vector text, so it´s still blurry, but the map, the minimap and game world are super-sharp.
-have fun!

Thanks for the tip. I was able to make it work fine - the only constraint is to choose a 4:3 ratio in the Hostile Waters setup. It's good to dive into this game once again! (pun intended)

I wasn't able to make it run on my Nvidia card, still it runs fine on the integrated card.
