I had been waiting for this to get released because I completely missed the Homeworld games back in the day, but then the reviews started pouring in that Gearbox had Gearbox-ed it up and the remaster had more bugs and ran worse than the origian titles did on modern systems.

Has the game gotten patched up since then / was that all bunk? or is it still a mess that barely runs?

I played all four (Win 10), the two originals and two remastered, and my biggest gripe wasn't from bugs (of which I experience none) but slight changes (squad formation when coming out of warp pissed me off), but all told, I loved them, though they can be VERY VERY challenging and rage inducing. The first few levels of each game hold your hand but then it's gloves off, and that is deliberate. You've got three dimensions to deal with and the enemy AI can be very tricky. They love to hit you where and when you aren't looking.

And just FYI. the originals come with the remastered and those are worth the price alone.

Are you an RTS fan? That is the most important factor.
