You offer a 50% discount for this game. But on Amazon you get the game for 9,99 Euro or as Key for 6,91 Euro. Why is this game so expensive on GOG?

If you have read up on what the Homeworld Remastered collection comes with, you might have a better idea.

For one thing, many older games of Homeworld's quality would still probably be AT LEAST $10 on GOG, so if it were just Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, it'd likely be around the $20 range together. That covers the current sale cost, just about.

But this doesn't just include the classic versions of both of those games, it also features the Remastered versions of both Homeworld 1 and 2 rebuilt in an upgraded version of Homeworld 2's engine for modern systems. Along with that comes new voice work from the original voice actors, new art (as in ship models, skymaps, textures, etc.), new gameplay mechanics (the huge patch that just came out revamped Remastered's gameplay quite a bit, and yays, ballistics!), multiplayer for modern gaming networks (which also features multiplayer between the factions of the original game and the sequel together), completely redone soundtrack, and etc.

So if you were expecting to pay $5 for a more recent classic, that was unlikely from the start. These aren't potentially used discs or copies of the game that likely require a ton of work to get operating on current PCs from the start.

The only thing really missing, at this point, is Homeworld: Cataclysm, which all I can hope for is it getting rebuilt from scratch or the code popping up at some point.

Yeah, on Amazon.com, only the Collector's version of Homeworld Remastered seems to be available ... at $116 !
https://www.amazon.com/Homeworld-Remastered-Collectors-Pc/dp/B00K6ZUOQE/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1465375465&sr=1-1&keywords=homeworld+remastered
P.S.: Furthermore, and which seems to be a failure on the part of Amazon (they should indicate the DRM method!), but I think that this version of the game doesn't even have an optical media with the game date, and is only available as a Steam key...

In Germany we can buy the game directly from Amazon without delivery costs. That makes it less expensive.

It looks like the original version of the game--which means you'll have to patch it yourself, most likely. And it's not being sold by Amazon and is not eligible for Prime--it's sold by another company--Digitalville--through Amazon, and there are precious few details on what it is you are actually buying.
you can buy homeworld remastered collection in a local saturn store in germany for 9.99 euro
I prefer editors who ask a high price to editors who do not agree to re-issue their games on Gog.

But I agree, it is a bit expensive for such an oldie. I will wait for a good discount.

You must have no idea of the efforts that went into this remaster, including from release to this 2.0 update!

A little research goes a long way.

It does include the original versions of Homeworld 1 and 2 with some edits to make them a bit more likely to run on newer systems. However, it also includes the Remastered versions of both games, with newly-rebuilt everything (models, textures, music, voice work, etc.) in a heavily upgraded version of the Homeworld 2 engine.

You want to know where the price is coming from? Probably all that new and improved everything in the Remastered versions that come in the package. That's where the "Remastered" in the title comes from.

The only things missing are a classic version and Remastered version of Cataclysm (there's a mod being worked on for this very thing for Remastered right now), but worth a buy for all the years of life added onto these games in the way of additional mod support and playability on modern hardware.

Same price as on Steam, that's why. Also, Gearbox - the publisher - sets the price, not GOG.
The game has gone up from 50% to 30% discount on GOG and is £9 on Amazon UK. I'm surprised with the price increase on GOG

I'm sure the 50% off was only for the first few days as a new release discount, and the 30% would be the regular discount for the sale.

I'll wait until it comes down again, I prefer getting games on GOG. There is the other not small matter of my games to play backlog......
