Hello

Im looking for some information, regarding the gameplay mechanics.
HW:R is now out for quite some time, I heard it had some problems regarding the engine and a lot of bugs...
Maybe all are fixed now...

What I also heard is that there are mean difference in the gameplay compared to the original Homeworld.
For example its not possible to capture raiders ion corvettes anymore?
I just heard this from a friend who was playing this game... originally I looked into buying this game.
But if its not true to the legacy, then maybe rather not...

Is there an topic/link which has a collection of these kind of differences (if any)?
I would buy it just for the classic editions included with it. HW1:RM is fairly messed up gameplay-wise which really sucks (Many of the original bugs were fixed, but there were still a few left when the developers abandoned it).

I've never really gotten into HW2, classic or remastered, so I don't know.
I just played through Homeworld: Remastered this week and have to say that the game is still a mess. Back when the game was released I played through it as well and made a long post on the Gearbox forums with bugs and other things that needed improvement. But it looks like almost nothing has been fixed. A real shame.

Formations have been implemented in 2.0, or I should say, they tried. It's nothing like in the original game and it feels broken.
I could make a long list of the game's current flaws and bugs, but to be honest, it just depresses me to think about them and the missed opportunity Gearbox had to properly recreate this marvel of a game.

At least you can buy it for the included original Homeworld, which runs perfectly on modern pc's. It's a pity they had to remove that iconic Yes song at the end though. Apparently Gearbox did not get permission to reuse it.
It is possible to capture the raiders' ion corvettes.

I love HW:RM when it was released and I still play it to this day.
What I want to capture is the Raiders carrier.
Unfortunately it's registered as mothership class, so no luck there. At least it was in original, have no idea about remake, never tried (I own the original on CD and haven't repurchased).

The Ion Array Frigates can be captures in classic also. But in Remastered their are near useless. In theory those frigates make more damage that standard ion frigates, but in exchange are slower and have less hull. Because in Remastered campaign the Taiidan ships makes an insane amount of damage, they destroy the Ion Array Frigates just in seconds. They even destroy the Multi Bean frigates just in seconds, and those are supposed to be de more powerful frigates in the game.

At least Classic, with all of it bugs, is more balanced that remastered, in that looks like you are playing in hard difficult when compared with HW Classic.

so the Remastered is harder?

tinyE: so the Remastered is harder?
For Homeworld 1, yes. Homeworld 2 Remastered is a port of the classic, but gearbox rebalanced HW1 to allow to play with it factions against the factions of HW2 in multiplayer. As HW2 is more intended as fast combat, this mess HW1, that originally is intended as a more patient game.

damn
I love Homeworld but I thought #1 was tough enough as is.

As soon as I finish Deserts of Kharak I'll go to #1 Remastered. If it becomes too big of a pain I'll stop.

Or switch to classic instead. I need to get back to my play-through (classic). I believe I'm on one of your favorite maps. I was actually progressing on it fine. Just got busy and distracted by other things.

I've played Classic, a couple of times.
